Today I brought home the newest member of the family, via adoption.

She's 10 months old, tortoise shell, has had very good Vet care, but her previous owner could no longer keep her. Currently living in the guest bedroom for a couple of days, the photo is the underneath of the bed. I haven't introduced her to the housemates - cats Bonnie and Herald, and dog, Nala. Her previous name was "Beauty" but I want to give her a new name. She has golden eyes, that were always closed when I tried to take a photo. Hopefully she'll like her new home.

she looks very much like my & my Mom's kitty "Sadie"

we loved her so much!!! she was soooo sweet and loving...but when we got her she had feline leukemia. We cared for her as she were going to live forever and loved her till the day she walked the bridge...I often think of her! and want my next kitty (haha...if my hubby ever miraculously overcomes cat allergies) to be just like sweet Sadie

in otherwords...

SADIE

When I was little, I used to call torties "plaidcats" because that's what they looked like to me. She's lovely, your new cat.

I think she's peeking but doesn't want you to know.

My niece named her daughter Sadie a few months ago. That's the second little girl named Sadie I've met recently. I had a dog named Sadie when I was a kid and my friend has a dog named Sadie and my son has a cat named Sadie.

It's a good name for a cat--a little girl, not so much. ;/

She looks like a Snickers candy bar to me.

Congratulations!

After staring at her for awhile, to me - she looks like a:

Calypso - you could call her Callie for short. This would not only be in homage to New Orleans/Lousiana...because calypso music is originally Caribbean and it is the Caribbean culture and people that share the foundational ties to the Creole. But, Calypso was also one of the Greek goddesses - her name means 'hidden' or 'one who hides'.

Whatever you name her, she's very cute.

She looks so much like my tortie, Kallie. Kallie went to rainbow bridge last summer. I am currently 'house sitting' a fur kid named 'Tali'. If DH and I decide to keep him, we will rename him to Smokey. I keep calling Tali, Kallie....

I agree with Mimi - only you can name your kitty, Beth. However, I can't help but try and play off the tortoise theme......

slider? (ok, that's a turtle....)
shelly?
How about Sulcata and call her Katy.....or Sulkie......

Enjoy - she is beautiful!

Oh such beautiful kitty. She's already getting used to her home all streched out. And thank you so much for adopting... It makes me teary eyed when animals get adopted to a loving home.

I'm sure you will find an appropriate name for your new baby.

Sincerely and hugs to the little kitty,

"Crush" - the turtle from Finding Nemo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finding_Nemo)...
Or, cuz she's just a young 'un...."Squirt" the baby turtle.

Congratulations on your new kitty! We just love kitties at my house -- we have 8! Names are so tough. I'd like to name a kitty Piper but I haven't had one that looked like a Piper yet.

Good luck with your name search! It took nearly a month to name one of ours -- we kept changing it! Her name is Pinkie. Her nose is bright pink and she responded to her name right away. >^..^<

Oh, some kitty advice, in case your other kitties don't like the new baby. Give all of the cats a bath, I know, not fun at all. In bathing all of the cats, they will all smell the same and their smell won't be threatening to each other. Worked like a charm with a couple of mine who hated each other initially -- they're best of buddies now.

She is beautiful! My torti is named Juno but she is named for her personality and not her coloring. Be prepared for a wonderful and somewhat temperamental relationship :) Tortis can be headstrong but very intelligent.

I am SO glad you adopted her. DH and I were at the local rescue/adoption place last night. We always look though we already have five of the little buggers. There were two cats that had been rescued from Katrina. They seemed like THE nicest cats...I wish I could take them all home.

Oooooh, she's beautiful!!!

This household isn't much help in the name department though. The two feline residents that have been here the longest had names when we adopted them. The deaf, epileptic adoptee before that was named Cauliflower by the girls. Yeah, that got a few odd looks! We just adopted two new additions to the menagerie -- a grey-and-white 6-month-old male for my husband's office (named Xero after my bike wheels) and a 14-week-old male grey tiger for the house (he's a non-stop, furry hellion so DH and I voted for Zipp -- as in Zipp wheels -- but we were vetoed by the girls, who chose Picasso because he certainly doesn't follow the norm for behavior). Now if they could all just get along...

OH! what a gorgeous cat! She really is a beauty.

I think her name is something with a "D". No idea why ;) Pandora? Pandy (short for pandemonium)?

So what's her personality like - regal, noisy, aloof, friendly, shy?

I took a nap in the guest bedroom yesterday, and she came out from under the bed. She was living in a kennel in the lobby of the vet's office, so she isn't afraid of people. At one point there was a fly or something flitting around, and she did her best to catch it, but the neighbor's barking dog frightened her, so ZIP! under the bed. Apparently she does *talk*, but thus far has been quiet. Does have a loud purrer. When I gave her breakfast this morning, I had to coax her out from under the bed. Soon she'll get used to the house routine and noises.

Bonnie cat is a tortoise shell cat as well, and VERY talkative. So hopefully new kitty won't be as loud. She does have a pleasant voice, when she did meow (or mioux if she speaks french, she is from Louisiana afterall :D). Bonnie cat does NOT have a pleasant voice.

Once I see her more relaxed and what her personality will be like, the name will come. But keep the ideas coming too!

My eldest son has a cat named Catch. But when they adopted him he had a serious intestinal issues, which lead to diarrhea...so his nickname became Poo-Kitty. Then comes along Grandson, who's grown up with Poo. One of his first words of course, is Poo. Every cat is Poo to him. So everywhere we go, he points and says PooooO? He's very cute. Poo has been a great companion for the little guy.

Here they are having a conversation. Might be about that ball in the baby's lap?

uh-oh - that looks like an accident waiting to happen :D

very cute photo, though.

I'm hoping Poo-cat is sedate and wellmannered when it comes to claws...

Oh, yes. They have 3 cats and the baby knows which cats tolerate what. Catch kept very near the baby as much as possible when he was tiny (I mean tiny...he was 2 lbs 14 oz at birth). Those cats are SO fat and lazy! I can't imagine them even lifting a paw to swat a fly.

Montage (cause she is a montage of colors)
Sparkle

She is very cute-how lucky she is to be adopted. It is not easy to adopt the older kitty's. I help out at our local cat rescue place. and there are a lot of older kitty's who just aren't as lucky as the young one's! Keep us updated on how she adjusts. Oh and what name you pick or her!

I like the Calypso (Callie for short) idea. Or you could keep with the turtle theme and go with Myrtle. My neices and nephew had box turtles named Myrtle and Yurtle.

Oh, I just LOVE that '80s long toddler hair! The cat is cute, too.

My grandson, in that picture, was about 9 months old, and probably only weighed about 10 or 11 lbs. He was born 10 weeks early, so he was tiny. All the cats outweighed him for the first year of his life!

He's 2-1/2 now, and he has that long hair just like his daddy (my son) did at age 2 in the '80s. :) My DIL's generation think they invented all the fashion that is now. ;)

Calypso, Callie for short. I like playing in my water bowl, and oh, look plants! I'm still trying to make friends with my new housemates, Bonnie and Herald. Bonnie looks like family, so I chase her around. I think Herald still needs to quit being grouchy and PLAY!

Thank you suggesting a new name!

She's SUCH a cutie! I'm pleased as punch that the name thread worked out so well.

Even though 'Callie' is a very girlish nickname by sound, there's something very regal about it - which suits Miss Calypso quite well. She looks like royalty.
