Nike Rift?

Do any of you own Nike Rift (http://www.nike.com/index.jhtml?l=nikestore,pdp,_pdp,gid-134264/pid-134262) shoes? I just bought a pair for casual-wear, and as I researched them I realized they are designed for running. I don't know that I could run in these? The split toe is kinda funky and not uncomfortable, but I don't know how I would feel about that if I were using them as running shoes. Thoughts? Opinions?

what an interesting shoe! I wear Nike Free all the time and I like them. Have you tried running in those shoes yet? what does it feel like? are you building a callous between those toes?

I just got them yesterday and I've been wearing them around the house to make sure I like them. So far, so good. They come with a pair of socks with the split toe, but I've read that some people wear them without socks. No callouses yet, but I can imagine it would be possible to get them.

I like the velcro because as my feet swell during the day, I can just loose the velcro. The heels also have velcro straps so you can tighten up the heels if they're too loose, or let 'em out if necessary.

I just might take them to the gym tomorrow and try running in them to see how it feels.

You could try running in them. I would guess that there would be a high chance of blistering so you might want to use body glide or vaseline between the toes. My biggest concern would be if they were supportive enough. That's immpossible to tell from the information they give you on the web page.

You could look for Japanese socks that are designed for thong sandals. I got my pair in Japan (at Epcot!) but they must be widely available online.
