Hi ladies (and men!) - ok, it has been almost a year since I logged-in to BJ to record my meager miles. I want to add a total to that mileage for TE and just tried - but for the life of me I can't figure out how to add to my mileage!

HELP!

What do I do? I logged-in and then can't find where to add mileage. I can see how to add to my lifetime odometer, but that does not seem to add to my 2007 miles....???? duh.....help!

As Homer would say, "I'm smart, I'm smart, s-m-r-t...":confused:

Hi there Jane

When you log in, lok at the menu along the top - it reads

HOME JOURNAL RIDERS etc

Hold the mouse over JOURNAL and click on "add ride"

I just joined bikejournal tonight. It's all new to me and I have, what I presume to be, a very stupid question:

who claims TE club membership? Is that reserved for paid persons - or team/racer gals? I lean towards thinking it's only for certain folks.

I don't need to be in a club by any means. But, if I'm eligible to claim TE as my group of cool folks - than I'd like to do so.

Sorry for my ignorance on the matter. Thanks.

IMO, we are all TE gals and we all claim the right to be members on BJ. In fact, we want more members so we can get more miles and move up in the ranks, right ladies? So join the TE Team at bikejournal today!

PS We have a thread in the forums too in case TE is down. :D

When I first joined BJ, I thought I had to put my local club... so I did, and of course I was the only one in the whole of BJ

So I made my club TE - which it is really.

It is not reserved for paid cyclists, or members of TE admin who are paid.
It is not reserved for teams or racers

Anyone from TE can affiliate themselves with TE on BJ.
In fact, the more the better and then we will have a better chance to get in the top 3 this year - wouldn't that be cool.

Occasional riders, commuters, cyclocrossers, dirt bikers, triatheletes, tootlers, fitness riders, club racers, national contenders... all these types of cyclists (and I have probably left some out) affiliate themselves with TE on BikeJournal...

Name TE as your club... if you hop on a bike and make the pedals turn - you are a cyclist :)

Note to self, join Team TE on Bike Journal this year. I have new warm stuff, so I should be back on the bike soon(ish). I admit, I'm a weanie when it comes to riding in cooler weather.

I've never thought of joining BJ before, but all this talk has me thinking I might. I think I'll head over there sometime today to check it out.

and why did my sick, twisted mind see BJ and think nasty thoughts?? Too many years of uptight Catholic schooling seem to always have my mind rebelling against properness and pure thoughts. Sorry.

Ok, I joined BJ and listed TE as the team. :)

How do I add my mtb? I listed the Roubaix and my *primary* bike but my first ride of the new year was actually on the mtb. Do I click on the new filter thingy and then pay for it after the 30 day trial?

KnottedYet

i dont remember, but i think you click 'manage bikes' and add it there. then when you log a ride it lets you choose which bike.

I giggle every time I see the thread and can't abbreviate BikeJournal...because that's just too much. ;)

Okay, back to the topic: I'll add TE as my club. Thanks for the information.

The idea of trying to get TE in the top 3 makes me really excited. Perhaps we should start a separate thread to encourage members to join BikeJournal and challenge all of us to do our best to make TE one of the leaders? How awesome would it be to have an all-women's group as a top club?

Moving on: being inspired to do my part to help TE get more miles, I'd like to make sure I'm adding miles. But, I only listed my first ride as minutes because it was my SPIN class (we did 70 minutes). I have no idea how many miles all my pedaling translated to. How can I figure that out so I can be sure to contribute to TE's club miles?

mimitabby
01-03-2008, 01:04 PM
you can figure your average mileage and do it that way.
Personally, i have not recorded my spin class miles, but on my stationary bike at home i have a computer that keeps track of every nasty annoying mile.

01-03-2008, 03:30 PM
There are countless companies and organizations whose founders (or administrators) are Christian (some even uber right-wing). Domino's Pizza, Wal-Mart, Taco Bell, and so on and so on.

There is really no way to walk through life without, at multiple moments each day, using a product or supporting a company that isn't in some way connected to political or religious leanings. So, unless those leanings equate to substantial (a.k.a: millions) dollar amounts towards things I morally disagree with - it's just something I've come to accept...and work towards being mindful of.

Oh Wahine... you bad bad girl...

And it would be too funny if BikeJournal's Christian origins were fundementalist... sorry, wicked sense of humour.

Seriously though, it never comes across as Christian... just as a bunch of enthusiastic cyclists. There have been a few interesting spiritual discussions, but none that resort to religious diatribe. I think the members are too diverse.

Raven tries to suppress a giggle as she re-reads what she has just written... members... BJ... too much... teeheehee...

Oh, me too!! For saying "we're in the middle of moving hell" (i.e. the hell of moving into a new apartment). I was told that "hell" is "ok as a noun, but not as an expletive", or something like that.

But it's a great site, and for the effort they put into it they can moderate any way they like.

BJ members come...in all shapes and sizes. They also have very different backgrounds, some lean to the left and others to the right.... politically speaking of course.

Ladies,

As you know, Jeff & I maintain a fairly hands off approach to moderating the Team Estrogen forums.

However, we have received several complaints from regular forum users about this thread, so rather than being heavy handed and simply closing it, I'd like to ask that you all step back for a moment and take a deep breath.

We certainly don't want to offend the fine folks over at Bike Journal, and this thread most certainly has the potential to do so. They provide a wonderful service, free of charge, and have the right to operate and moderate their forums as they see fit. They should not be mocked for wanting a family friendly forum.

The postings on this thread have gone way way way beyond family friendly, and that disappoints me. I have neither the time nor inclination to heavily moderate these forums, and have always been thankful that we have such a wonderful group of intelligent, friendly, and genuinely welcoming women here. While I'm certainly not offended by some off-color humor now and then, I think we need to be careful that the tone of the forums does not become so ribald that we scare away potential new members that would find these postings offensive enough that they do not join.

Finally, I have the reputation of my company to worry about. If the forums become known for inappropriate behavior, the image of TeamEstrogen.com suffers. I can not allow that to happen.

So, I'm asking that you moderate yourselves so that we aren't forced to do it for you.

Thank you.

Susan

However, we have received several complaints from regular forum users about this thread, so rather than being heavy handed and simply closing it, I'd like to ask that you all step back for a moment and take a deep breath.
erate yourselves so that we aren't forced to do it for you.

It's just like "offensive" content on television, no one is making anyone watch.

No one is forcing Susan to provide this forum, either.

Let's just let it go, with our gratitude, of course.

FTR, I did not complain.

Susan, you make perfectly valid points, and we all should have thought of this before we "went too far". Apparently, even smart, responsible, supportive women can get carried away.

Thank you for leaving the thread and providing a gentle reminder that we about our responsibilities here.

I think it isn't really relevent to know who did or did not complain, Susan is doing the right thing here.

Thank you so much for providing this forum!

Hugs and butterflies,
~T~

I was surprised it went on as long as it did with censure (or censor). I didn't complain either, but got a couple of good jokes.

I propose that we refer to that other place as BiJou. ;)

I second that proposal.

Any objections?

All those in favor say "Aye" ;)

sorry, all, I know I got a bit carried away. Like I said earlier, bikejournal is a great site, and I don't mean any disrespect to them. It's easy to get moderated there (at least it's easy for me) but they do it very nicely and I'm not offended by it even though I should disagree.

Peace, all!

Uh oh, everyone look innocent.

I've been biting my tongue on this one - ah well, we sometimes get carried away.
