Last year I bailed, but this year I really want to ride to Matthews Beach and watch the Polar Bear Swim. Anybody know if there's gonna be one this year? And what time?
Love that internet
Sixth Annual Polar Bear Swim at high noon on Monday, Jan. 1, 2008 at Matthews Beach, 9300 51st Ave. NE.

There's an annual ride from Leshi on New Year's that I'll probably do (unless it will get me in too much trouble from my coach.....)

I talked to someone at the gym who does the polar bear swim! I wish I could go but I work that day. Grrrr. Having sat-mon off this bid has been nice unless I want things like Christmas and New Years off
I look forward to hearing about it. I think I'm going to swim on sunday (ahem, any NW people who want to go to coached swimming?) and other than that we're not doing much. Am looking forward to it.

You could not pay me enough to do a polar bear swim. Not for $1000. No way. Ugh. I hate being cold. I have a hard enough time traipsing through the snow to get into the hot tub.

ah, it's momentary. I think anyone who rides/runs could do it because it's a fraction of a bit of time as opposed to HOURS. Keep in mind I'm not doing it. I have to work. That's right. I will stick with that story.

I'm not swimming it, I'm gonna ride to it and watch!
So, here's my tentative plan: happy cruising speed from Kenmore to Matthews Beach via the Burke-Gilman. Drink hot coffee while I watch folks fling themselves into Lake Washington without wetsuits. Ride on, or back.

Don't forget, while wearing wool :p :D

I'm down. Provided I'm not badly hung over.

If ya'all decide NYE is worthy of a ride, we're in. We're going to a concert sunday night but should be good for mid-morning or so.
I tried to take NY off but, alas, it wasn't to be. At least it's double time & a half. It is some sort of comfort. That and I don't have to wake up til 10am or so.

I work New Year's Eve. Believe me, I'd rather go for a ride!

I feel the same way about New Years.
It seems like it's been rather dry up here this year, flooding nonwithstanding. I can't figure out if it really has been or if I am being acclimatized.

I'm intending to be at Matthews Beach about 11:45 a.m. tomorrow. From there I'll probably go on for a longer ride. (AFTER the Polar Bear Swim observation)
