Well, we set today as the 10 week point, didn't we?
I have to keep this post short, but I am proud of everyone who changed their habits in some way to not gain this holiday.
I have lost 6 pounds. Not the 10 I was hoping for, but it will come off eventually.
Who wants to start another challenge for the New Year??

Congrats Flybye! Well, I only lost 3 pounds total. I have to say though, this thread got me back on the right track. I had a couple of really stressful weeks with family stuff, like taking my Dad to the hospital with chest pains, compounded with regular holiday stress. I'm pretty happy that although my weight loss stalled, I didn't gain anything. I'm hoping to continue slow and steady while eating well and riding on the trainer. By spring, I think I'm gonna like the changes I see. And feel them on the bike (hopefully!) So I'll probably be up for a thread in the New Year.
And congrats to everyone who made their goal, came close to their goals, or even just made small changes that make a difference.

I lost two and then gained them back in the lat 10 days. Ah well, such is life. If it hadn't been for this thread, I wouldn't have lost the 2 in the first place and would just be up two... New Year's Resolutions are just around the corner.

I'm guessing I lost 5 or 6, but I had scale issues. I've really been holding steady. I'm at 179 today, to stick, I think.
I can't believe it's been 10 weeks!!!
Happy Holidays, everyone!

5 for me, then stuck. If I make it through the rest of the holidays and stay steady, I'm happy.
I'm in for the after-New year's next challenge.

Who wants to start another challenge for the New Year??
I'm in :o I've got a long way to go. Although I'm 9 down from where I was in October :) I'm still arguably 40 lbs overweight :(

I haven't been very good at weighing in, but I'm at -3 for the challenge:)
Not what I wanted, but I've restrained myself more than usual this year - I've still indulged - just in the stuff that's really good, and not all the crap!
We're having Lentil Soup with Turkey Sausage for Christmas Eve dinner - lots of veggies. We're planning Oyster Stew for tomorrow. It's our first Christmas at home alone (last year we traveled and saw a relative). So, it's a little odd. It's nice to get to spend time with DH, and we get to do what we want to do. But, it's hard not to get to see anyone....
Ah well.

PS - I'm definitely in for the New Year!

Well, I have failed. I actually had lost 25 lbs in the last year, and thought 10 more would be perfect, but instead I gained almost 10.
My 19 year old neice died on the 9th after a four year battle with leukemia, and it was just too hard to diet. Food felt so much better than anything else. She was a wonderful girl, and we are devastated.
Anyway, dieting just didn't seem important. I need to work on that now, and will, with a vengence.
Become a blood and platelet donor. And get tested for the bone marrow donor program if you can. Someone else's little girl may be saved.
peace,

Eeep. This will be a tiny bit of thread drift. Sorry in advance. Don't flog me please!
Horsemom: I'm so sorry to hear about your niece's battle with leukemia. We found out a month ago that my Mom's cousin has leukemia. Luckily his sister was a bone marrow match and he underwent the transplant about a week ago I think. He has since been in and out of consciousness and is undergoing more chemo. After learning about his leukemia and learning the facts of bone marrow matches (the chances of finding a match in the family is only about 30%) I signed up for OneMatch (the Canadian branch of the registry). I have my appointment to give a sample in the next week. So I really support people joining as well, they really really need people from all ethnic backgrounds. And the dialysis-like procedure is becoming more and more popular in lieu of the actual surgical procedure, so it's not quite as scary as it used to be.
Ok, so sorry about the thread drift!
I didn't participate in the challenge but I'm sure up for the next one! Am riding in Death Valley in Feb and need to lose something/anything by then and beyond.

Well, weighed in today and am up one from the initial. Considering I've been sick 3 times over the last month and all the yummy treats, I consider this a victory.
I'm up for another challenge in the new year!

I am so sorry for your loss. You definitely did not fail. Failing is giving up - you have not given up - you are ready to dust yourself off and start again.
As for me...
Looks like the bottom line ended up being a 4 pound loss.
I'll take it (as long as it was a loss, and not a gain) and count me in for a new challenge in the new year.

Yippee; I managed to remove all the holiday goodie weight by xc skiing for six days! Now, it's back to actually losing, instead of going up and down.
What's the new challenge?

#1: Cancer sucks. I'm sorry to anyone who has to struggle with the illness, or with the stress and pain of watching a loved one struggle with it.
#2: I'd really, really, really be happy if there was another challenge. I'm totally in.
#3: Cancer sucks. I could get all eloquent about it - but I think those 2 words pretty much sum it up.
Spins, you are SO right! Cancer Sucks is PERFECT. Nothing could sum it up better!
Me, I'm weighing in late -- don't recall what my Christmas Eve weight was, but New Year's Morning, 169, down from 177 at the beginning. Can't be much more pleased with that!

Yep, Cancer Sucks. SUCKS. (((horsemom)))
I was doing so well up until I left for my parent's house a couple of days before Christmas. At that point, I was still even (no loss, but also no gain). Yeah, not anymore. I weighed in on Dec 27th and was up 5 lbs! I've dropped a few since then, so there was a lot of bloat, but what a bummer way to end the year.
I'm in on the new challenge (already signed up!).
