Thom and I got up Saturday morning and decided the house was just too darn empty.
We decided now was the best time to get a dog. We'd have time to bond before we both went back to work in January. We had decided that when we got our next dog we would also get kittens so they would grow up getting along.
Well... we got the kittens.

Tucker and Cassie
We have been without a dog for four years. Our lifestyle has changed a lot in that time. We do much more traveling and we spend more time away from home during the weekends, riding. We decided a dog would just be too much responsibility right now.
We both still really miss Tilda. These two are working their way into our hearts though.

There are a few more pictures of them on our website.

Cutie pies!
Our semi-feral cat just brought home a mouse and ate the whole thing but the head in front of Em, who still has a bit of PTSD. Just think what you have to look forward to!!! :D
Happy early birthday!

Our new kitties are indoor only. The ferals outside are outside only. :D Although I have watched a feral play with a mouse.

No, they came into the shelter together though. I think Cassie is a little bit older than Tucker. He's still very gawky and dweeby in a little kitty way. :D

CUTE! Congrats!
I've always been a dog person but we got a kitten last year and I think I've converted. She is so loving and social and a total jungle cat....and best of all...soooo low maintenance!

They're looking pretty complacent and ready to take command already. Good luck! :p

Awwww.
I'm a dog person, too--allergic to kitties, but I love to see them, though I can't touch. They're adorable--wishing you many furry, purry years together.

They look so content in their new hug.
I love cats. But today I had to wash poop off the long-haired cat's booty....He didn't like it, but he spared me his claws. Guess we're going to the vet to get dewormed today. :(
That's the part I don't love about cats

There is just NOTHING like a kitten. Enjoy!! :)
Oooh... This makes me all nostalgic.
I've always had cats in my life, but my husband is allergic. Really allergic. He keeps saying that we could always try a hypoallergenic cat, but I find that the risk is too high that it's not going to work, and I'd rather not put a cat in a position where it's "not working" and we have to give it away.
So I must find a place to live with neighbors who have cats!
Can I move next to your place, V?

They're so cute! Congradulations! Bonnie and Herald send purry greetings, or they would if they weren't napping.

Wonderful! A house is not a home without a cat (or two).
Good idea to get the cat(s) first and add the dog. That way the cat(s) are No. 1 as far as the dog is concerned. Dogs will accept any existing authority you see.

Ooooo. So adorable. And thank you for adopting from a shelter. And Cassie and Tucker seems like they have settled in quite nicely.
Wish you many many happy years together.

Our first two kitties were living on the streets when we adopted them. We will always adopt from somewhere. I've never quite understood buying a cat. A dog, while I will still adopt, I can understand, if you want it to do certain things or be good with kids.
But a cat... and I don't quite get the point of cat or dog shows.

My experience with the four golden retrievers I've purchased in my life: There is a direct correlation between "quality" of bloodline/price of dog and "badness" factor. My 4-month old, Fiona, comes from an excellent breeder. She looks just like her "daddy"---
http://www.stormypointgoldens.com/chan.html
She cost more than the other three. We had to sign a blessed contract and pass screening to get this pooch. Now I'm thinking the breeder should have paid us! :p Just kidding -- I adore her, despite her banshee nature. Well, here's an example of her badness. Yesterday, I was home, burning leave, making cookies for our office party. Fiona was out of the crate, playing with her two golden sisters in the living room. Or so I thought. The MINX had gotten my reading glasses off the couch arm, chewed the glasses case, opened it, removed the glasses, and chewed them sufficiently that the glasses are now in the "hospital," being repaired. Thank goodness the frames can be fixed because they were expensive. Now we know why her guardian angel made sure she was extra gorgeous. Large and in charge is her middle name.
We cannot wait until the girl is through puppyhood and a bit calmer. Hmmm, three years, ya think? LOL.
But Veronica, I love your street kitties. Many years of love, joy, and purrs!
