Good Morning! I've been swimming for about two months now - just learned in my adult years just to do triathlons... I love it and have been visiting the pool 3x a week plus lessons.

My DH however does not. He says "I smell like a floor", referring to the bleach smell that seems to stick with me and transfer to him (from holding hands, etc) no matter what I do.

Any ideas on a good soap or body wash that will combat the chlorine. I've tried Dove (my usual) and a fruity moisturizing wash from the grocery store. Since you guys have been doing this much longer than me I was hoping you'd have some ideas.

Thanks,
Jenny

Obviously not. Not to dis team estrogen but I'd rather find something more mainstream/local if I can. If I can't I know where to go! Thought I'd ask the more experienced...

Thanks

Get yourselves some matching T-shirts that read:

Chlorine: Breakfast of Champions! ;)

I realize this does not help you with your problem! I recall using some anti-chlorine brand shampoos and such, but not sure they really helped me.

You might try using a very heavy duty, and pleasantly scented, moisturizer all over your body. The constant water is very drying, and I wonder if you let your dry skin really suck up a bunch of good-smelling moisture, if that would help throughout the day? Maybe even just some plain old almond oil.

Just a guess. Good luck!

You can try some clarifying body washes (look for things like apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, peppermint, etc.) and moisturize really well. Unfortunately, I dated a swimmer for a long time, and that chlorine smell is really really hard to tackle...about as much as sticky swimmer hair.

I have bought this product locally in my bike shop. It's OK... but doesn't really remove the smell.

In fact, I swam last night for about 1 hour... showered at the gym with soap and water... went home and showered with this product... TWICE... and I still smelled like pool. YUCK! It's all I can smell for a good day after swimming.

I have been swimming since as long as I can remember...I have long since given up on getting rid of the chlorine smell. It's become kinda comfortingly familiar to me

I have however found that L'oreal makes a kid's shampoo for swimming, and then there are other brands like Aubrey that make a (rather expensive) swimming shampoo/conditioner that I haven't tried.

Happy Swimming! :D

I find the smell of chlorine mixed with a hint of coppertone to be downright sexy, maybe your DH just needs the coppertone added to the mix? :D

White Vinegar. I rinse my hair and body in a little bit and the smell is gone. Then I wash with my normal soap. Easy, cheap and works every time.
