View Full Version : wish us luck!!!
Tommorrow morning Sonny (one of my papillons) and I are going to a trial to get our last leg for our CD title.
(You need to get 3 legs...which means you have to pass all the excercises with at least 170 out of 200 points under 3 different judges. CD is "COmpanion Dog" it's the first obedience title out of 4 possible. )
We got our first 2 legs with fabulous scores and placements and we need one more....this will be our 3rd try for this last leg....!!!
Wish us luck!!!! Here's SOnny...he's the best and sweetest boy....

Wow, does Sonny look like he is having a good time or what. I wish you and Sonny lots of luck. Sonny has a very cute smile....
Sending loads of butterflies (how appropriate!) to Sonny and you for this test. You'll do great! Sonny is full of character, too, isn't he?
Hugs and butterflies,

Oooh, Sonny is a real sweetheart! Good Luck!
In another lifetime long ago, I raised a red Doberman and trained him and took him through getting his CD certificate. It was a lot of work! :p

Very cute dog, Elk
Best of luck for today (I think I have the timezones right... its my Saturday morning, so when you wake up it'll be your Saturday morning, and your post was yesterday, which would be Friday I think... not Thursday night... or maybe it was....)
Ahrgh, whatever day you do this today, or whether you have just done it... trust you both shine and have fun, and get those vital last points!
:D
What does a companion dog do?
I have a companion dog in the chair with me right now and she never had to take a single test.
Is is one of those "visiting the hospital/classroom/nursing home" type of dogs?
Are they allowed in restaurants?
I'm sure Sonny will do fine, he looks like a bright boy.

Good luck!
Sonny has a great smile. I'm sure he'll wow them!
WOOOOHOOOO!
Not only did we pass...but we got High in Trial!!!!!! WHich means the highest scoring dog from ALL the classes...(all 4 obedience classes from CD to UDX)!!!
The ribbon we got is like 4 feet long!!! ANd we won a folding crate.
A Companion Dog --with precision and with only one "command" must heel, sit when you stop, stay tight with you in turns and about turns, and figure eights; Stand for exam...let a stranger go over his body and not move, do a fast straight recall and sit in front, and do a 1 minute sit stay and a 3 minute down stay with the handler across the ring...and again, can't change position until the handler returns and releases him.
Its like a dance when you get it right...adn lots of fun because you have to really learn how to communicate with your dog...

YEA!!! Congratulations Sonny and Elk. Good job. Did anyone video your performance? That would have been so cool to see....
thanks for your beams too!!
sbctwin: you know...i'm not sure. i saw cameras.
there will be a photo of us with the judge and our ribbon though...i'll share it when the photographer sends it to me.
there are dog shows almost every weekend in every state in the country...although summer has the most. its fun to go watch, especially the obedience trials and the rally and agility trials too.
the dogs competing in what most people call "beauty contests" are not being judged on superficials either...most important is that they have the proper structure and temperment to do the job for which they were bred. It is not easy to earn a championship title on a dog....(which is why it BURNS me to read smarmy classifieds in the local paper offering "championship puppies" because it is a misuse of the term...no such thing as a championship puppy. Good puppies can have parents who are champions.)

Congratulations Sonny and Elk! I love watching obedience trials, when dog and handler work well together it's awesome.
