Hello from blustery Wisconsin. I usually just read posts but I spent hours online searching so I thought I'd pose my question here....

I'm looking for longer-ish 8" or so tri shorts without the leg grippers. I carry a bit of extra meat on my legs and the grippers always force it out the bottom (not pretty). Road cycling I usally use knickers but would rather not swim in those :)

Any takers?

I don't know how long they are (and they might be longer than 8") but I like the Desoto Rapida tri shorts. There are no grippers, they stay put, and they are pretty darned comfy through all the tri components.

I'm not huge but I'm 5'11" and am not in shape as I could be which means I am large-ish. I like them.

Teigyr, is this it? http://www.sportsbasement.com/jump.jsp?itemType=PRODUCT&itemID=10693

I think my next pair of shorts will be tri shorts, cuz I just don't mesh well with thick-n-smooshy 3-D chamois. (the older style chamois and I get along fine, but it's hard to find nice ones these days)

Edit: TE has 'em on sale http://www.teamestrogen.com/brands.asp?brandID=108

It's fairly easy to remove the elastic from the shorts with a seam ripper.

Thank you so much everyone.....I'm going to check out the Desoto's and maybe even try the seam ripper idea! Thanks Again!

Thanks for the advice but I actually just got around to looking at the shorts and they're only 6" inseam. I need a few extra inches...

Try looking at men's shorts. They usually have an 8 or 9" inseam. For tri shorts I can't imagine the men's chamois is all that different from the ladies' since there isn't that much to begin with. Just an idea . . . :)

Knot, those are the shorts and it looks like they are going away! I had to get them somewhere other than TE because they didn't have my size. I noticed that the color selection became scarce which was a sign...perhaps I will have to stock up. I hate that. I wear them for spin class, I can wear them to run, and I can even wear them on my bike. They are that comfy!
