I work every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (12 hours each=40 hours due to working weekend package). I started putting up xmas decorations this past week, the cat has helped me, he's checked out all the boxes before they were unloaded, helped make sure things that moved were still flexible, and anything that could be batted around, was done and with great enthusiasm. While assembling my vintage silver aluminum charlie brown tree, the plastic ornaments got knocked off and he pulled at the plastic beaded garland. The branches really fascinated him, they sparkled and moved with the littlest of ease. I get home from work last night, the cat is usually asleep in my chair. He's up and then procedes to run and hide under the bed..that's odd I think, he's never done that. I walk into the livingroom to let DH know that I was home (he falls asleep in the recliner until I get home) and on the floor is one silver aluminum tree, branches everywhere, ornaments all over in various corners and under rugs and the beaded garland is half off the tree! It appears to look like my tree was strangled by the garland and had toppled over, losing all its possessions in the fall. DH swears he was watching tv when it happened and had nothing to do with this crime. He of course witnessed it and left the tree to remain on the floor, losing limbs and adornments with no one to be by its side while it was down for the count. My cat had to be coaxed out from under the bed with treats, and when I took him into the livingroom, he walked way out of his way to avoid the tree. I think the poor tree got the best of him..I thought of you ladies, wishing I had a camera to take a picture and show all of you what it looked like. One of these days I will be a savy, modern gal. But until then, the imagination is a wonderful thing.

LOLOL. I haven't seen a cat yet that doesn't love Christmas trees. Some cats I used to have delighted in climbing the tree which made it difficult to retrieve them and a water squirt bottle didn't always help. Those kitties really do have a conscience. Jenn

Hmmmm.....the disaster happened on his shift, yet he did nothing to start picking it up?
Maybe HE should have run off to hide under the bed when you arrived.

Mom has a new kitten. He's already discovered the curtains, I don't want to know what he will do to the xmas tree, although we put it up on the 24th only....

I had a bottle of lavender oil on a shelf yesterday, looked to see my cat sitting on the shelf next to it. I told her to get down, turned for a sec to do something else with the intention of taking her down when i was done. Next thing I hear is the bottle hitting the floor. Oil everywhere! I kinda got mad at her. she jumped down, I grabed her so she wouldn't walk in it, and put her on the stairs so I could clean up. She sat there watching me. When i looked up at her from what I was doing she gave me the most mournful meow like she was saying sorry. I had to giggle and went over and petted her to tell her it was ok. At least my house smells good now. Maybe she was trying to tell me something?

We don't get a tree specifically for feline reasons. Our 22 lb cat likes to climb and he could do some serious damage. The others...well, there is one with an inappropriate place urination problem, etc. We live life vicariously through other peoples trees :D

A few years ago I had an exercise ball. I got home one night to find it popped and the cats giving it very wide berth. If only I would have seen THAT!!! I love the little buggers but have this really evil streak that appreciates it when they do something that startles them and they jump straight in the air.

Thanks for the laugh guys!
I've seen evidence of cat accidents as well, but nothing as spectacular as the tree or the exercise ball.
