OK, I've been contemplating a mountain bike. Not to do any technical stuff (for now) but something to ride off road, on gravel, etc. My old bones need some suspension and my beautiful 'cross bike has none.

Have been contemplating Kona's Lisa FS and Santa Cruz' Juliana. Well, I took a chance, called Proteus (one of the local shops that stocks Kona) and found out they had a 2006 Lisa DS--in my size--for more than HALF OFF. DH went over to College Park this afternoon and picked her up. Fits perfectly. I plan to go w/my DH tomorrow, when he takes his morning run on the C&O tow path. Figure I can get in a good ten mile maiden ride. :)

Cool! I was just at Proteus this evening and saw several mountain bikes at half off. Too bad I already have one.

Hey, congrats on the new bike!
I went to the Kona site and checked it out.
Verrrrry nice!
Perhaps you can take it to join us on our next Rosaryville SP venture....it's close-by, not too technical, and boat-loads of fun for mountainbiking!

I might take you up on that invite, Regina. But be advised--at this point, I got the bike just so I can ride off road, no bunny hopping or anything like that!

Ended up going for 14 miles because DH was running more miles than I had anticipated. LOVED it. Why didn't I get a MTB sooner?

I LOVE Proteus! It was my local shop when I lived in the area. I bought my Jamis Coda commuter bike there, and they have (or used to) a great Thursday night pot luck with beer and pizza.

Wow, Velobambina, how many bikes do you have these days??

Congrats on the Lisa. They are pretty bikes.
