Last week for the first time I ordered from Sierra Trading from a post that they were having a sale. I ordered the SheebestSSS shorts figuring that theywould be the same as I ordered from here at TE early this year, 2007. They are not exactly the same. The logo is different and on the opposite side of the shorts and the chamois is like my capri's that are 2006 models. Don't get me wrong, I love my capri's as that is why I ordered the shorts which I also love. But when I ordered the capri's here at TE they were on sale, but TE stated they were 2006.

My point or question is when ordering from Sierra, I gather you really do not know exactly what you are getting. hmmmmmm

Nope, you don't. Sometimes this year's off-season, sometimes years' previously. Prices are good, and they are very nice about returns.

Sierra Trading Post advertises that is sells overstocks, closeouts, and seconds. You are unlikely to get anything from 2007's line this year.

That said....I once ordered a pair of Hind bike shorts from Title 9. I really loved them and called them back to order a second pair - same catalog, same order number. Different shorts came! They were still really nice. Just different.

I've learned to check the date which is frequently on the garment label now (or call and ask). It seems that more and more active wear companies can't leave well enough alone. They must keep making "new and improved" versions with the same name. Sometimes I really like the old and cranky version like me.:o

It makes me really appreciate that TE identifies the year of origin. PI does the same in their outlet stores.

My experience with sierra is that what they sell is usually not the current year, but that is clearly stated in a global way. The prices are great and the return policies are generous and easy. In my opinion the changes shebeest made to their chamois this year were for the worse, so you are lucky to have picked up the older model at such a good price. They decided to put a 'cut out' in the chamois, but if you aren't using a saddle with a cut out its a big problem, not enough support where you need it.

I've only ordered a couple of things from them, one I kept and the other had to return. They are very good about returns and customer satisfaction.

I just ordered some stuff from TE. So far I've never had to return anything :D very quietly: it's the last day to get $20.00 off

I was happy with the chamois in both years, 2006 capris's and 2007 SSS here from TE. The 2007 worked great on my century ride so I figured I would get another pair since the price was so low. I like them better than the PI Ultra (I think is the model). I would not my wear them on a century ride, but my gf likes the PI better. needless to say, a personal issues for everyone.

At any rate, thank you for the little education lesson on Sierra. I just went right to the page and ordered. I really didn't know anything about the company. The shorts are a keeper at any rate :)
