I put Frogs on my mtb since I was acclimated to using them on the road bike. But I'm wondering....with a sore knee.....should I reconsider and put toothy platforms on my mtb? I'm wondering if I would put a strain on my already strained MCL by twisting in and out of the Frogs. I'm planning on riding on *mostly* flat rooty trails, dirt roads, no kamikaze riding.
Knot, I bought a new pair of cycling shoes--Tahos! Woo hoo!! :)

I would go by how it feels, really. Frogs are often recommended for people with knee problems, but my husband (two ACL surgeries, big metal plate due to severely fractured tibial plateau) can't use them at all.

Luv my Froggies, luv my Tahos....
so I'm biased. :D
The amount you have to turn your foot to get out of Frogs is a bit less than you turn over your foot when going around a sharp corner. If turning the corner in your house from hallway to bathroom hurts your knee, be gentle and cautious with the Frogs.
Between my Frogs and my BMX platforms my knee and hip are very content. It's just a matter of finding things that work for you. (Frogs are pretty easygoing in the grand scheme of things.)

I'm not sure the mud clearance on the frogs would be up to much...

Thanks everyone for the advice. I put platforms back on my mtb for the trails until I get used to the bike. In the meantime, I did take a spin on my road bike with the Frogs and I didn't have any problems. :)

I have semi-cranky knees at times, and the Frogs on my MTB suit me just fine. I adore them, in fact!
