I assumed the forum closed when the site mostly did. I am still riding although on 9/7/19 I was hit by a distracted driver who was going probably 50 mph. I lost 2.5-3 liters blood when my mesentery artery ruptured. Broke 5 ribs, my ulna snapped in two, had two fractures in my pelvis (pubis and sacrum), broke the T12,L1 and L5. I had aspiration pneumonia, my left lung collapsed and eventually needed a chest tube. I spent 6 days in a medically induced coma on a vent. I also had two deep punctures (right thigh and my butt) that were on a wound vac 26 days. I was hospitalized a total of 26 days. I was in a TLSO brace three months, left in a wheelchair with a walker and am still in PT.

OMG A_A I am so sorry. Man, we are lucky to still have you here. It was decades ago that I suffered a spinal fracture and was in a brace for many months. But no PT required or offered and I certainly did not have the extent of the injuries you do.
Do whatever your PT says and our hopes are with you for a full recovery.
Just have to ask; anything happening to the idiot driver?

I have been told by the second in command of the Texas Rangers he pulled the stats, about 1% chance I should have lived. Several friends that are paramedics or cops were too traumatized to visit me because they knew I shouldn’t be here. The driver stayed and cooperated, insurance did settle and they haven’t closed the case criminally. They do not believe he was texting, he was not impaired but the State Trooper who investigated said he just felt measuring that an attentive driver could stop or swerve. But I don’t know if it will end up with any charges.
I am fortunate because of age (38) and my healthier lifestyle I keep being ahead of where any doctor expected.

In true TE tradition one has to ask; I suppose the bike is toast?
