I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for here. But I would like some pants to ride in that look like pants. & not capris. Think in terms of Harlot except full length.

I could just wear shorts with chamois under regular pants. But right now styles aren't conducive, the legs are too big. There are lots of rain pants, but not exactly right either.

Ya know want I mean?

In a word, no.

Me either... not sure

I know what you mean, but I don't know of any. I think she's looking for a pant with a chamois that isn't a capri, and doesn't look like tights. So, a full length version of the board rider capri and the like.

I ride in regular pants with the ever so fashionable leg band. Might be an option?

Yoga pants? With the fashionable leg bands on both sides?

That's pretty much it. Years ago I had old-fashioned pants clips. Metal and held your pants leg. Don't know whatever happened to them.

Basically the pant would have to have a fitted leg, at least from the knee down. I might try Goodwill and see if I can find some old school pants with peg-legs. Course I don't want parachute pants. ;)

There must be slim stretchy ski pants out there that look more like pants than biking tights do, yet aren't flappy or loose. Look though ski apparel on the sporting goods websites.

That's a good thought.

I think LLBean has some "classic" fit pants that have less wide legs. I've not tried biking in them (they're 100% cotton long pants - not good for biking), but that style would work.

How 'bout this: http://www.titlenine.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=2461&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=792&iSubCat=794&iProductID=2461

Not on TE, but looks like the sort of thing I was thinking of...

That is a cute pant. It may work.

I'm a "knees in" rider, so any extra material is apt to catch on the rings. I probably need to go try some on at some point. I may even look at making or modifying some.

Hi....Take a look at Hind, SportHill and REI---all three have "tights" that are about half way between a tight and a pant. Lisa's idea about ski shops is a great one---I've seen some things online that look like they'd fill the bill...........I have a couple of pairs of the LLBean "perfect fit" narrow leg cotton pants in black. (Got them on eBay for a ridiculously cheap price--$4 or $5--a few months ago.) Those work just fine for short commutes where you want to hop off the bike and look not-too-sporty at your destination. But they wouldn't be my first choice for a long ride.

I'm quite fond of my Rivendell biking pants. I have the butternut color, but now they have grey... and I want grey!

Mine don't look quite like this picture (no green crotch gusset, it's butternut) but here's what's on their website right now: http://www.rivbike.com/products/list/clothing?page=3#product=22-433

Here is one thing I have discovered: Tapered leg sport pants are not in style, so go to Goodwill and Salvation Army. I have found tons of Nike, Adidas, Reebock pants with the zip legs and elastic legs and I just wear shorts under them.

I also have a pair of Hind Munich Pants. They also have a tapered leg and are possibly the most comfortable pants I have ever had. They are also warm.

I figure I'll have to hit up Goodwill.

Knotted, I like those Riv pants. But the legs still look like they would catch on the rings.

They have a velcro strap so you can snug them up.

When you get to work (or whatever) you undo the strap if you want and suddenly you have regular pants.

Mine haven't got caught in my drive train yet.

I have a pair of the Hind Munich tights, too. They are nice for running, but I've not ridden in them on my bike yet.

(Follow up to earlier post).....You might check out www.activelyyours.com under tights and pants.....They've got the Hind Munich pant for a great price ($36), plus a couple of other options that might work for you. I've got one pair of the Hind pant and I find it comfortable for riding, at least in the 10-20 mile range. Looks good, too. No bigger-than-life logo on the legs! ;)

Another source might be Athleta? They've got several tights and pants options. www.athleta.com

I like that Hind Munich pant too.

On the athleta site there is a nifty pair with a draw string at the bottom.

Of course having abused my CC this week, I won't be ordering for a bit.

On the TE website, there are about a dozen different pants that look like they would work for riding too: http://www.teamestrogen.com/categories.asp?catID=30
Listed under pants/tights no pad - maybe something from there?

Running pants are often somewhat tapered and would probably work for what you want. Though, they're still clearly athletic wear in appearance. I had some great fleece pants with stretchy breathable side panels that I pretty much wore to death doing everything from hiking to biking to snowshoeing in them.

I'm now in love with the Craft Storm (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=27961) pants, which are very "pant-like" in a weatherproof/fleecy kind of way. Fairly fitted through the calves so they don't snag on the bicycle, but they still manage to appear almost like a boot-cut fit. (I have a previous year's model that has a lot less of the white flashy piping.) I really like wearing them when i bike commute to school.

I've gotten several good suggestions. Wish there was some central place I could go and do a try-on!
