I'm in arizona! i rode 20 miles today with a bunch of Bikejournal folks, but Mtkitchen and i took off and went at our own pace.
it was nice and cool at first but it got pretty hot by noon when we were done.
I have seen lots of dirt, sand and cactus!
and we climbed an 8% hill.

Sounds like a lot of fun! Have a good time while you're out there! :)
You know it's funny... when I lived in AZ I got so tired of the barren desert landscape and all the Southwest architecture and style. Now that I've been gone for 15 years, I really miss it- and wouldn't you know my house is decorated in a very Southwest style (must've been why I bought it).

8%! I thought they said no hills!
So did you ride with RD? Did you eat pie? Did you have the right clothes? How far did you ride?

We only have "high country/snowy in winter" desert here... which I haven't ridden along yet but will do one of these days...
