Sidi Toasters insoles

Have any of you ladies tried the Sidi Toaster insoles? I have problems with cold feet during the winter time when biking so I'm thinking about them. I'd rather be outdoors to ride rather than do the rollers during the winter. Each year I suffer with the cold even though I do have the Sidi Storm shoes too. These toasters seem like a easy way to keep the toes warm.

I had to google these since I hadn't heard of them yet. Wow! But @ $300 they're a bit pricey. I wear Sidis but replace the insoles as soon as I get them so probably wouldn't like these.

My solution for cold fee is to use the little chemical heatpacks you use in ski boots. If you get them bulk on sale they're about $1/pair.

OK, $300 is just ridiculous. Besides, I want something over the top of my feet to stop the wind.

SB--Some guys at work recommend using plastic bags to keep out the wind (over your sock, inside the shoe). Haven't tried that yet. The insoles are tempting but alas, I can't justify the expense.

Shower caps work, too. But with either plastic bags or shower caps your feet will probably get sweaty......warm, but sweaty.

I know the heated insoles are expensive.. saw them listed on the new items for TE. I've tried all kinds of different things to keep my feet warm during the winter and still suffer with the cold feet. A biking buddy recommended getting off the bike and walk a short distance to get the circulation back into the feet, which does help some. I've used the chemical packs also and it seems like they get hard and crunchy under the toes after a while, and need to be taken out of the shoe, to reactivate the warming again.. I really don't want to spend that kind of money for the insoles but Christmas is coming up. They have a nice description of the insoles on the TE website. Apparently they keep the toes consistently warm up to 100 degrees. But I do agree,, they are expensive.

The last few rides I've been using a square plastic bag that I cut in half, so it covers my toes but not the tops of my feet behind the toes. This over thick SmartWool hiking socks. I haven't had trouble with sweat at all, and my feet do sweat.

But I just got a pair of real toe covers.

I purchased the sidi toaster insoles after getting $20 off. Went out on my first ride with them today, with temps in the 30's and they were wonderful. I think that it may be possible to wear a thin regular biking sock and still have warm feet. I would always have numb toes by the time I'd finish up a 2-3 hour ride but not anymore... these things are wonderful even though they are pricey... hopefully they have solved all my 'cold feet' problems. I've used the chemical warmers with thicker socks and its nice to just put the foot in the shoe and go...this is my special Christmas present to myself for this year :)

Thanks for the review. I have to admit that if I wasn't bleeding money left and right due to home and car repairs, I would consider buying them as a Christmas present to myself. The only thing that really bothers me in the cold is my feet. Solve that problem and I'd be willing to ride more in the winter. Maybe next Christmas!

I haven't tried these, but the owner of my LBS swears by them, and they seem to be a more affordable option compared to the $300 sidi insoles.
