Shopping it right now and it's a complete nightmare -- their servers are totally overwhelmed with traffic (or something) so you have to refresh every page 5 or 6 times to get it to load..

But great deals to be sure.

Question: Do we have to enter a special code or anything? I want some padded shorts and no discount is showing up.

VeloVT

I think it is supposed to show up at the final stage of checkout (not when you're just viewing your basket).

Does anyone know if sale items are 50% original price or 50% of sale price :D ?

I placed a website order earlier this morning and it took nearly an hour and loads of patience to get to the last step! At one point my whole basket disappeared and I had to start over again, grrrr......Tried the phone, too, but couldn't get through.

On sale items, the 50% off applies to the sale prices---not the original price. I nabbed a Swix top that was originally @$50, on sale for $36---I snagged it today for $18.......

Have fun! I could easily have spent more than I did, but I decided to check out and run before the site crashed or my cart disappeared again! :)

Just got off the phone with them and their server is crashed. You can call in the order but they can't guarantee if it's in stock until the server come back up.

I'll go back online later this evening an see what's left! :D

OMG, I'm so frustrated!

I went to the site (of course, it's working fine for me) and picked out a ton of stuff. Then I felt bad, so I scaled it down to only things I actually need. Then I mentioned it to my husband who asked me to wait until tomorrow when I get paid. Crapola.

No one buy the stuff in my shopping cart, ok? :( And keep your fingers crossed that it's all still available tomorrow....

Thanks Trek! We do indeed always have a closeout page of 50% off or greater. We also have a fairly extensive Sale page that has everything on the website that's been reduced, all in one place. (Not dial-up friendly, beware!)

Here's a link. :)

http://www.teamestrogen.com/onSale.asp

There's a TON of warmer weather clothing on that page right now, typically 10-50% off. Take note that there's FOUR styles of Sidi shoes on there as well. Sidi is changing some styles slightly for 2008, so we've got the '07 versions on sale. They won't last long, so get 'em while we've still got 'em.

So I tried to log into my account and nothing happened. Then I used a different email address and set up a new account. It let me. But when I try to log into my new account, nothing happens. The email address and password disappear, and nothing happens. Doesn't matter which sign in I try. And it won't let me add anything to my cart or wish list without being logged in. Guess I'll try again later or in the morning. I might have to call them I guess.

I fought with it a few times last night and eventually got what I needed. I had to refresh my login page about 4 or 5 times before it loaded properly. I also had to 'resend' my info on the final purchase (ie, my credit card info) 3 times before it took. I was afraid that I might see triple charges, but figured that it was Terry and if it overcharged me, they'd fix it.

All in all, it was worth it. I got the Rudy Project sunglasses that I've wanted for 2 years for $82!!

And now that I've been paid...I'm off to check out the TE sale stuff, too.

For the Terry website... I couldn't even get pages to display so I could view their products. Yesterday I was FINALLY about to see something and tried to add it to my cart, only to be told "I could not order that item". What?

I'm going to try again today... but I don't have high hopes of the website working properly. I suspect it's overloaded with everyone wanting to login to get their really expensive stuff 1/2 off.

Not you, Queen! Sorry!

I just meant that any retailer who offers 50% off everything ought to be better prepared. I'd bet TE would have planned ahead. ;) If they did this in a brick and mortar store and had to tell people to come back because their cash registers couldn't handle the business, people would freak out on them. I do feel for their poor operators though...they must be having a rough time!

Bike rack.....hmmmmmm. Hubby keeps threatening me with one but I can't bring myself to using one yet. I don't commute (the nearest grocery store is 12 miles away). Let's see, would you like me to demonstrate the cube sitting in a milk crate?

SadieKate

My order went through as far as I can tell (I was extraordinarily patient yesterday morning) but a certain credit card company seems to keep losing my new address. I changed the address on-line and received an email confirmation. I had two transactions declined (one at the grocery store which doesn't care where I live!) so I called the company and spoke to two people. My new address was re-entered and I was assured all was well now.

Guess what? Another decline until I entered the old address. Terry can't get into their database to confirm if my CC went through on their order. I have to wait.

The CC company shall remain nameless but I've asked them if what is in their wallet will return to my wallet.

I guess in the greater scheme of things this is all small potatoes to whine about but it's plain ol' embarrassing at the grocery store with everyone standing in line. How do you announce in a friendly loud voice, "Believe me! I've lots of credit! I paid my bill!"

Oh my gosh, that happened to me one year when I was Christmas shopping. There was a long line of people and for some reason the card didn't go through. I can't imagine you could strap that bike cube to the back of your saddle without a rack to support the bottom. It looks more like a bowling bag or a gym bag, made to carry with handle straps.

Boy I feel like I was really lucky going on the Terry site at 10 am and getting my gloves with no problem. :o
Terry should make it into a 3 day sale next year- with 30% off everything the first day, 40% off the second day, and 50% off on the third day. That would even out the stampede rate nicely. (hey and they should give me my gloves free for that brilliant idea!)

Finally! My order went through, whew! I had to log in and add things to my wish list(already had a few things in it - hehe:rolleyes: ;) :p ) than go to the wish list management screen and add items from there so that everything would be added at the same time. I did lose a couple of small items, but decided it just wasn't worth it to try to get them added. It did take a few tries to get the final check-out screen to reflect the 50% off prices though. It was a little bit of a hassle but well worth it. It beats holiday traffic, using defensive tactics to beat off hostile shoppers(I've had a few instances of people shoving my little ones out of the way during this time of year at the mall.:( ), and walking around for hours not finding anything. :D

It would not let me order this morning until I set up an account. After I thouhgt about it, I had tried to order online from Terry before, but it wouldn't take it. & there was no big sale then. But I didn't set up an account then (that option is there). Today I finally did after it kept telling me I had entered the wrong password. I hadn't entered any passwaord, there wasn't a spot for one.

So I really think the site is a little buggy in the first place.

After all our stuff comes in, we should have a new thread of modeling our purchases.

I had the same "wrong password" issue, so I just called. I ordered the Gore Vulcano gloves. And yes, a thread showing purchases off would be fun :)

Hey, does anyone know if things purchased during this sale are returnable?

I am assuming that the standard return policy applies, as they didn't state otherwise. The interesting thing will be to see how they handle exchanges. I bought multiple sizes just in case.

The CC company shall remain nameless but I've asked them if what is in their wallet will return to my wallet.Ah ha! Finally was able to speak with someone who sounded like she knew what she was doing, at least let's hope. And she put $50 back in my wallet for my troubles.

Guess I'll stop shopping for other card companies . . . for awhile.

My apologies to all of you who have been frustrated trying to make a purchase during our 1/2 off sale. Believe me, no one feels worse than I do when we leave customers feeling less than absolutely thrilled with our products and our service.

Since I'm a geek, let me fill you in a bit on what's happened. This sale started as a mailing to a small, select group of customers and very quickly assumed a life of its own! It's not that our web servers aren't up to the traffic -- it's that some gliches in our code were exposed when the volume ramped up. We've been working behind the scenes to correct the problems.

But for those of you who waited patiently and still couldn't complete an order, or who attempted to phone in your order and got a busy signal, that's no consolation.

I definitely don't want you to feel like you lost out on the sale. If any of you wanted to order but couldn't because of our technical issues, please give us a call (800-289-8379) sometime in the next few days. We'll honor the sale price.

Again, please accept my apologies. Thanks to all of you for your robust discussion of our sale!

Thank you Georgena!

I just had about 8 items in my cart, and when I went to check out, after putting in my credit card info and trying to get the order to be placed, it came back with "your shopping cart is empty". No matter what I did, I could not get the items back, and of course I hadn't written down the item numbers.

So, there are still some technical glitches on the site. :(

I am going to try once more, and if it still doesn't work, I'll call in a day or two and place the order that way (hoping the items are still in stock).

Wow! I'm blown away that Ms. Terry herself would come and help us out! That's pretty cool. With your permission, I'll cross-post on our club (private) forum. We have a thread there about the problems with ordering. I placed one successfully online, but had the same problem with the second:o order -- it dumped my cart twice, asked for a password where there was no place to enter. I called that one in. Bike cube for me too!

Hey Georgena, thanks for posting! FYI, some of us ended up placing multiple orders since the shopping carts couldn't hold much, so ask your staff to group orders by account to not waste money on multiple shipments to the same address. Also, can you tell us if you will let us exchange items at the sale price if we order the wrong size. Otherwise some of us are ordering items in multiple sizes to return what doesn't fit. Lastly, now that you've joined TE, PLEASE STICK AROUND. We get lots of querries on bike fit, and even Terry bikes, so it would be great to have you on board and participating.

Georgena - YOU ROCK! I knew there was a reason I love Terry (besides just my bikes)! ;)

Seriously, since I was the one who pointed out that you should have been better prepared, let me say that you have 100% redeemed yourself and your business! I spent years in retail management and because of it, I tend to get overly demanding when it comes to serivce. You guys have met my expectations in the past, so I should have given you the benefit of the doubt this time (I will admit that I was patient enough to get my multiple orders through!).

Thanks for your gracious offer and for answering my question about the return policy for this sale.

Yeh, TE and Terry are the best aren't they? You get emails from REAL people, yes Susan and Georgena are real people, and I would say that I buy >90% of my cycling products (including bikes- I have a 2005 titanium Isis, 2003 steel s/s coupled Isis, and 2 retired 2001 steel classics) from them. Anybody ever get an email from Giuseppie Nashbar? I hope Susan isn't feeling like she lost a lot of business over this one. Yeh, we used Susan's wonderful size charts to figure out what to order, but in all honesty, I ordered either mostly stuff Susan doesn't stock, like terry specific tires and parts, and the few clothing items were pieces that I already decided were too expensive to ever buy on TE (and are perfect layering pieces for the jacket that I did buy on TE earlier this year).

So please, Georgena, really join our community and participate in our discussions of WOMEN'S CYCLING. Susan has created something really special here.

Oh, I'd also like to say that I love TE, too. :) Seriously, I'm spoiled by this place. I order stuff and it's here before I even hit 'submit'. TE's service is definitely part of the reason I hold other internet retailers to such a high standard!

I don't think my purchases from Terry will change what I buy from TE. TE is my first choice (my first love:p ) and that will never change. With a 50% off sale, it just gave me a reason to stock up on some things I would normally have not bought. I still get caught by the 'featured' products when I log onto here. That page is dangerous...

Did they advertise the sale much (I would never have known about except for it being posted here), I wonder if they failed to anticipate internet word-of-mouth?

You know, this seems like it was originally intended as a private sale, which I admit kind of ticks me off since I've been a customer of Terry for years and wasn't included among those who got advance notice. As I said before, that was for the best because I really don't need anything new, although I'd have bought an Exte Ondo jersey I've had my eye on, had I known I could get it for half off. I readily admit to having a case of sour grapes over this, even though fate served me well by keeping me from breaking out the MC or Visa (why the heck don't they accept Amex?). LOL. :(

Makes you wonder if they really intended this to turn into a inadvertent inventory clear out right before the Xmas shopping season really ramps up! I checked their website today and it seems like the pickings are slim at best.

I know what you mean, heck I own four terry bikes, two of which were bought brand new, I subscribe to the e newsletter and I also didn't get invited to the sale. This may very well have backfired on them. Those are a lot of hefty discounts they gave out on stuff, much of which rarely goes on sale.

If they intended to have a "private sale", it probably wasn't the best idea to advertise it loudly on their website the day before the sale started. That's how I found out about it.

I too wonder about the criteria for advance notice. I am not a regular Terry customer but I've placed several orders over the past year... Though I've done some direct mail before (political stuff, not retail) and the decision about exactly who to mail is very calculated and donors are segmented according to multiple parameters. Retail is probably the same, maybe my $100 here or there wasn't enough to make the cut.

Anyhoo, I can't complain too much (unless I find my credit card charged 5 times), because although it was a major hassle I ended up with a whole bunch of Gore stuff that I probably wouldn't have bought otherwise.

Because AmEx is twice as expensive for the retailers than other cards. They take 3.5-3.9% of every sale, Visa and Master card only 1.5-2%.

Just got an email from them that they added the item I couldn't get processed on my own. You are right, we shouldn't complain. We got great deals. I ordered an Exte Ondo jersey that I never would have been able to afford at full price, stocked up on tires and bras, and bought a few layers I really needed but couldn't afford to pay full price for. I hope this didn't end up hurting them, it does seem like a big hit to take, but I know nothing about retail. Regardless, you have to give them credit for going out of their way to honor the sale.

I did get an e-mail from Georgena today (thank you!!!) saying I could put in an online order than e-mail for the discount or else I could call today. Being that I have no voice, or at least one that could be understandable, I did it online.

I have never ordered from Terry before but had some items I wanted to get "at some point". I do have loyalty to TE but both places have different things so it's ok. Mostly different, that is. If it makes any difference...
I tried to place an order online last night (after calling in my first order), and wasn't able to because of the cart-emptying problem -- it was hours of frustration and I just gave up... but it looks like items that are not in stock, but are not "sale" items, could be purchased at sale price, backordered, and would be shipped to you when they were back in stock (for instance one of the items I was going to order was another pair of Bella shorts, and it appeared that even though my size was out of stock by that point, I would be permitted to order them at sale price and I'd get them sometime in January). So if you were ordering regular stock, you may still be in luck...

I am a little worried though. i had to put my email on high spam alert cause someone in Russia highjacked my email and I was getting over 100 undeliverable email messages a day. Someone from terry tried to get a hold of me but the spam guard wouldn't let them through. I tried to get the message but accidently erased it with an action I did. I hope it wasn't anything big. What was the name of the person who got a hold of you guys to tell you they were out of this and that? I wrote terry back and told them what happend and asked them to resend the message if they could.
My biggest thing I ordered was a new seat for my dh. He has been using the one off my old giant and I want it back!
the other stuff I ordered wasn't bike related clothes. I got a traveling skort and a halter top for my trip to hawaii in Feb.

I got a phone call yesterday from a gal at Terry that wanted to verify my CC#. I had placed 3 orders, yes my wish list kept growing as the days went on. I asked her if this verification was for just 1 order or for all 3 combined and she said they were still going thru orders and getting things ready for shipping and wasn't sure how the orders were done, I got the impression they were still doing things via paper/pen at the moment as she said that was what she had in front of her. I'd recommend that anyone who placed an order and hasn't heard anything yet to call or email Terry. As of this afternoon I hadn't heard anything, and I was worried that maybe something had gone wrong, AND I was worried that by the time they got around to processing it everything would be gone :).

I emailed this afternoon and got a very prompt email back. From the wording I got the distinct impression that my order had been taken down on paper and was lying around on someone's desk, forgotten :). (I had tried to place an order on the web, the site crashed while processing my card, so I called and placed the order over the phone. The representative said she would check before placing the order to make sure that there was only one in the system -- I think their computers were down as well). Anyway, about five minutes after I got the first email, apologizing for the delay and assuring me that I'd get a shipping confirmation when my order shipped, I got -- yes -- a shipping confirmation. I don't think that was coincidental ;).

I'll post this twice on the forum just in case someone isn't reading this thread, but . . .

I just received my Sporthill Summit Tights (no chamois version) (http://www.terrybicycles.com/detail.html?item_no=5046&c=On+Sale). Turns out TE is much better at measuring inseam length than Terry (surprise, surprise). Anyway, the legs are too short for me. The description on TE's website (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=22275)is far more accurate. 28" is right.

Before I return them, does anyone want them for $40 including US postage? I hate to see someone miss out on such a great deal.

TE carries them in a long length which I may try. They're really nice tights and I was so looking forward to using them for snowshoeing.

1. Yesterday I was a little disappointed my Terry order didn't come in before the holiday.

2. My delivery guys are very good about hiding packages on my front porch so they won't get stolen. Usually behind a brick column.

As I wandered thru the living room this morning, I spied a box sitting behind a big planter. My order did come in! Just well hidden.

What size are they?
