We have this infection going on here. If you have read my previouse post you know about it. I have a ? if anyone can answer it. My faith in my Dr right now is not terribly high.
We are going at his full bore right now and doing everything from keeping it coming back on my husband. He has had cyst twice now both with Mrsa. So we are doing a nose swab thing every day for 30 days as well as using something called hibeclens for 30 days. It is a soap we are to use head to toe. Well it is drying me out a bit and myskin feels tight. I never have been so clean in my whole life!
I have asked if it is ok to use lotion after I bath with this stuff and some say yes and some say no. I am confused. After I put it in my hair I rinse it out and then wash with normal shampoo and conditioner. If not my hair looks like a scare crow's. It is not good on the hair let me tell you. and I have thick hair. I try and let it rinse over my scalp and try to work it in as best I can. Any advice?

give me a good reason to not use moisturizing lotion!

without it your skin is getting dry which results in tiny cracks and
fissures where MRSA could easily take hold. Dry skin is not healthier or safer.

I don't know about using a lotion or not (I would suspect that as Mimi said that it is a good idea to keep your skin from drying and cracking if you know there is MRSA in your household), but that is the soap surgeons scrub with before they go into the operating room - its pretty harsh stuff.

tell me about it! it is drying stuff that is for sure. I just had my hair done right before this happend. it is colored..the color is slowly going away just after a week. And my hair won't style right. It looks a bit like straw.

I have had MRSA; currently almost over it.

I finally got to a dermatologist, and he told me to do the hibaclens like yours did, but also to alternate every other night with soaking the affected area in a bath mixture of water w/about 1-4 to 1-2 cup clorox bleach.

I also got muiproxin ointment to put on twice a day. I am also taking Calflex antibiotics, but another option was Bactrum.

The clorox soaks are really doing the trick. Before that, I was just on antibiotic pills and the ointment. It was improving, but w/the clorox soaks it is really shrinking fast. I would give that a shot. Don't sit in the clorox bath, just hold the leg or foot in there.
