My new/old freespirit

Found a 70's era steel womens "10 speed." a " greenbriar freespirit" Paid a little cash for it.

Went through the shed. Found 700c wheel set, a saddle, a 700c tire, inner tubes, and a brake.

Purchased handle bar, grips, brake pads, stem, 700c tire, 17t sprocket, some spacers, a chain, a lock, and viola! My new little single speed.

I intend to rebuild the bottom bracket and headset. The old caliper brake doesn't work very well. Hope to fix it.

I LOVE your bike! ;) Of course it may be because I just bought the same bike from someone down the street (they were selling it on eBay). Only mine is from 1983 (the sticker is still on the seattube). Glad to see another Greenbriar is getting another chance at a new life.
Looks like you made yours into one sweeeet ride! Love the 700c wheels and that you made it into a single speed. Great work!!!

Very nice! Any plans for a rear fender?

Rear fender would be nice. I had to remove the existing. The fender wouldn't work with the 700c wheel. Odd that the front fender works. (Not a lot of clearance, but no rubbing.)

Only in the 40s tomorrow.

Tri girl your greenbriar looks sweet! Mine was in much less vintage condition. Someone had removed the handlebars, stem, and basket. Apparently, my bike had spent a decade or two rotting in a sideyard.

I will now date my bike early 80s. I was just guessing at the 70s era...

Good catch. It weighs a ton doesn't it? The wheels are really heavy...
