I'm home all alone, for a whole week.
My flat-mate has just left the house & left me all by myself.
I reckon it'll be a good time to do work on my bike (inside the unit in front of the TV), watch anything I like on the tele, ride whenever I want, spend all night playing Warcraft & dress like a slob around the house.
Heck, I might even put on some Beatles music, and walk around in my bathrobe.
It's going to be a fun week.

I live alone -- I do that all the time!
Welcome to my life :D just substitute Second Life or Yahoo games for Warcraft.

Since I've always been part of a household or shared-house situation, being alone is a novety.
Here's today's plans.
Ride bike, eat left over KFC chicken, have shower, in bathrobe watch Schlinder's List (with light's off, nibbling on some chocolate & Diet coke) whilst trying not to cry at the end.
Happy riding

When I'm home alone I do this... sit at the computer and get all tangled up in the neverending journey in cyberspace. I'm like a kid with ADD on the computer. I go to one site, then see a link or think of someplace else to go- then read a blog here and there and 3 hours later I wonder where the time went.
Enjoy your week alone! Solitude can be a good thing for the soul. It's why I like my bike so much.

Send the cats upstairs. Open a beverage. Pop in a CD or music DVD. Fire up these babies and make sonic mayhem.
Do you dress up like the Phantom of the Opera? :D

I have not been home alone for months. And when I am, it's usually only for an hour or two on a weekend afternoon....
Last time I was home alone for a week....
I PLANNED to spend some time in my sewing room. Finish a couple of projects.
That was almost a year ago. Those projects are not done yet.
I was in my bathroom, and decided I couldn't look at that wall paper for one more week. What the heck, I thought. It's only going to take a few hours to pull it off the walls, and by tomorrow night I can have them freshly painted, and THEN I'll sew all week long.
Yeah, right....
The paper didn't want to come. It took parts of the sheet rock with it. The room was SCARY.
I got a mess of plaster, and started troweling it on. Eventually, I had all of the walls completely covered with a great texture. Then came primer, paint, and then, the worst part: the clean up!
It kept me busy every available minute of the entire week, and I never did do any sewing!
Karen in Boise
I "clean," e.g. I get ALL the clothes out of my closet and try to rearrange them. Or do the same with the bookcases. Drawers. Whatever.
Right now my sweetie is out on a bike ride and I have this impulse of "cleaning" up my desk.
The problem is that it is never done, there are always those bits and pieces that don't belong in a rightful place, and the place ends up messier than it was...
I love it though.

Considering my dh and work together almost 24 7 I relish it when he has to go on a trip withot me.
I eat all my favorite foods. Taco salad is my first choice. Then I watch stuff like Sex in the City and all the shows he hates to watch. I go to bed early almost every night. I don't clean the dishes. And I don't shave. Ha sounds like fun huh? Oh and sometimes I have a girls night when all my girlfriends come over in their pj's and we girly stuff. Like our nails and facials etc...

Sulk. Eat frozen dinners and can't be bothered to cook even when my body is screaming for real food. Forget to go to sleep at night. I HATE being home alone. But I do enjoy not having the stupid TV on.

The not too fun part of being in a quiet house, is that I sometimes suffer from Tinnitus - also known as a really annoying ringing in my ears.
Pure silence can be very noisy, so I need to have some noise in the background (ie fall asleep with the TV still on).
My current fav distraction is Lifestyle channel of Foxtel (cable TV). Watching the Antique Roadshow & house makeover shows is a good distraction (and I learn some useful stuff too)

home alone. Let's see. I'm married to a 56 year old boy with ADD. I kid you not. When he used to go away a lot on business trips (Katrina, Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne, oh, and Rita too - hurricanes!) I completely dismantled his office and painted it. and our bed room (separate trips)
I plan big projects.
When he's gone just for a day or an evening, I scale back. I have the kind of fun I can't have while he's there; well, I can, but it's not as easy; big baking projects, painting...
We both like the same music though, so whether he's home or not, the CD is stacked with wonderful music and then left to cycle.

I sort of live alone, if you don't count the 2 cats and the dog. Bonnie (cat) lets me know the sun is rising and she's HUNGRY, so sleeping late isn't an option even on weekends. Well sleeping late for me is sleeping all the way to 7.
So, my current things to do to keep busy after work, when I'm not petting kitties or the dog, is a goldwork embroidery project, and making renaissance era bobbin lace. And making a baby quilt for my neice, who's now 1 mo old
And in my spare time, go for bike rides. Now that it's cooled off somewhat, the grass isn't growing as fast so I don't have to mow every freaking week.

I live alone 3/4 of the year even though I'm married (well...not "alone" we do have 2 fur children)! Like everyone else I ride my bike, do projects around the house (my favorite is rearranging and then when DH comes home he doesn't know where anything is), and travel to go see him when I can.

When I have the house to myself, the first thing I do is pour myself a tasty beverage and clean the house. My DH is a clutterbug, so it's the one time I know that when I clean it it will last for more than a day. In the evening, I'll either re-watch some of my favorite movies, or watch some of the trashy cable TV shows that I know he hates but I secretly enjoy. During the day, I'll do pretty much what I would do any other time, but I sleep in longer and don't have to worry about our schedules matching up.

I am not home alone too much, but when I am I guess it depends upon what the weather is like. Last time DH was out of town I went for a nice long hike up in Rocky Mountian National Park. Took a little nap at an alpine lake then went home and made a 4 course dinner. On days where the weather isn't the best I spend time in my sweing room working on quilting projects.

I am not home alone often, when DH traveled for work I cleaned like crazy. He hated the job so I made it my duty for him to have a nice place to come home to. Now I usually just get a few hours. I watch Sex and The City on DVD or Discovery Health and look for the end of the internet. :D

Normally, I treat myself to food that hubby dislikes - brussel sprouts, cookie dough, etc. (not together:eek: ). However, I'm living by myself for a couple months now so I'm whooping it up by unpacking boxes.
Whoop. Whoop.

My mom was so lucky - Dad was in the Navy and was at sea for half the year. I got used to a manless house until my brother got older.
Now I'm married to a guy who is home every night at five, like clockwork. He has such a routine. Next week, due to the holiday, he has to work 3 ten hour days in a neighboring state. I suggested he stay with his ma who lives in said state, to save gas (Huge!) and the headache of leaving at 4:30 and returning at seven. So he agreed.
I'm gittin' three days ALONE.
My daughter and I are gonna watch frock flicks (Persuasion, Emma, Mansfield Park... throw some ideas my way!) and cook brownies every night (and not clean up til ten minutes before he comes home.) :D

Hahahaha. It's nice, though I do sometimes miss him! ;) I end up talking to the cats a lot which I can't decide is crazy or normal...
My husband is in the Navy and I get used to not having him around. This winter we're taking our first vacation together, it'll be weird flying with him instead of flying to him.

Ditto but I do have a fantasy that involves DH & 3 boys going away for 4 days. Day 1, I get to clean the house from top to bottom. Noone around to mess up where I have just tidied. Change sheets to white ones, have a bath & get into bed early with a good book. Day 2 - wake up, lie in bed realise I am alone in house. Feel the cleanness all around me. Bliss. Get up go to kitchen to make coffee - wow it's still clean from yesterday.
Spend next 3 days enjoying tidy quiet home, eating when & what I want - you know how sop is a meal for a woman, but not for a man. Just that kind of thing.
i am however confused about how this became my fantasy. When did raunchy get replaced with tidy????

I realize that with 2 boys and one husband, I'm only alone during the day when I'm supposed to be working, or riding the bike.
I would love an evening alone -- and I would buy a big stack of mystery books, order sushi and buy a really good bottle of white wine and drink one glass (OK maybe 2) and do nothing but read.
Sign me up!

So I am home alone until Thanksgiving day, when I'll join DH down at our boat for the long Thanksgiving holiday. I miss him already, but I'm having a pleasant evening, hanging out online and watching TV (Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead on Lifetime, fascinating...if you're into psychic stuff, check it out!)
It's going to be a long few days, but at least we can talk on the phone. I'm sure I'll keep busy. Already have a long list of everything I need/want to do this weekend.

so Zen does he have nice biceps from lifting all those packages?:D
My honey just started a her new job as a department head so she'll be home all the time now. Before this she traveled every other week for four days. I enjoyed the alone time and I ate "bad" food (she's a health NUT so no bad food in the house), I read, played on the internet, watched old movies that she doesn't care for...
I'm glad to have her home all the time now so we can have a more normal life, although I did enjoy it when she went to her moms overnight last week. :p

My husband is a freelance writer who works from home; our daughters are homeschooled. Time alone?! What's that?? No wonder I resorted to long-distance cycling!:) (And even then, DH is along for the ride at least several times a week.) But, I wouldn't change it for the world!
The rare "home alone" time includes loud music and cleaning, cleaning, cleaning.

UGH, cleaning!
I play with my lapidary stuff - listen to music and dance around the house, build a fire in the woodburning stove. Drink tea, check out my forums. Sometimes sew or knit or read.
My kids are in and out (they moved out, but I'm the way station in many ways!)

Today I'm alone for most of the day. My partner took off by bike (then ferry) to Vancouver Island to chair a provincial cycling advocacy meeting. He won't be back until 8:00 pm tonight or so.
So I cycled 40 kms. solo ...and then did some minor grocery shopping. Oh those goat cheeses hit my wallet... :D Relaxed and had a rosemary foccacia bread slice and coffee there. Cycled home in rain.
Been here at computer after hot shower.
Life is just normal when he's not around...just as normal when he is around at home. When he is around, on weekends, we are cycling together often.
