Is anyone a credentialing specialist or coordinator in a hospital? There is a position posted and I am thinking about applying for it. Just wanted some input about this type of position. Thanks, Nancy

I just applied for the position. I need to get off of my partial workers' compensation status. I was a Surgical Technologist for 12 years and after falling at work in May of 2006 - now with a permanent knee injury and not able to return to my Surgical Tech job, I am in the position of Surgical Scheduler/Verification Specialist + partial workers' compensation(65% of my previous salary =big $$$ loss). Anyways, just looking for some input from someone in this type of position. Thanks, Nancy

I have never had the position but I work with nurse triage software which stores this kind of data (either from being entered manually or through an interface). My impression is that you need to be willing to work bits and bits and bits of data, be exceptionally precise with the collection and entry of it, and patient with bugging docs for updates. I've worked with clients who go through review processes to update the info regularly. It's a lot of data and accuracy.
