I can't believe it. This is the 2nd SS in a row that I get to start this thread.
My Secret Sister (five one) was truely a goddess. I received a box packed with the greatest assortment of goodies.
Let's start off with those cookies. How in the world do you make each one such a work of art? I had to run all over my work showing them off. Even the warehouse manager, who is never impressed by anything, thought they were unbelievably cool. It will be a shame to actually have to eat them. Hmmm, maybe I could try covering one with a clear coating to make it into a ornament.
The chocolate wedges will be great to take along for a treat after a nice fall bike ride or snowboarding (if it keeps getting as cold as it's been). I also loved the mug, beautiful autumn plate, the candle, and the pair of my favorite brand of cycling socks. Fall in Wisconsin can get a bit nippy on the old feet so they will be put to good use.
The cookbook is awesome. It seems to have so many recipes that have a real "comfort food" vibe to them. I've picked out a few to try this weekend. Of course I showed it to a coworker and now she expects me to bring in samples for her as well....and she already copied down one recipe to try for herself.
Thanks again for everything. I loved it all.

lol thank you Brandi. I assumed the tee came from the manufacturer. It's not exactly "autumn" garb for Seattle, I should have taken it with me to Arizona!

Well, I sent my SS pkg. out last week, was told that it would make it to it's destination on Sat. Haven't seen where anyones posted lately on the updates of their goodies. I usually do delivery confirmation and i probably should have just to ease my mind. No, mimi, I didn't send out any t-shirts so wasn't from me.

Thank you SS :D I'm thinking I know who it is but I'll PM you to be sure.
You have THE most perfect timing ever. I had been on vacation and promptly caught the cold from &*^% on the way back home. Too much time in airplanes, I daresay. I mustered up enough energy to go to a concert with DH on saturday where I promptly got food poisoning. Lesson #2. Do not order seared ahi at a cheesy type gaming facility. Yesterday was our 1 year anniversary. I was in bed most of the day trying to work up the energy to go out to dinner and as I was up doing an errand, I saw your package on our front porch!!! Today I am going to work and have/had enough energy to actually make coffee and drink it. So thank you and double thank you!!!
The coffee is sooooo good. There are almost candy-like flavors in there. The socks are adorable and I love water bottles from other places!!! The chocolate I am looking at but think I'll have to put it off a wee bit longer, but not too much longer.
You helped make yesterday even more perfect than it could've been!

I just got a present yesterday! Yay!!! Thank you!! It came all the way from New Zealand! I'll try doing a litte snooping to figure out who it is when I'm bored at work later. But thank you, whoever you are! The t-shirt is great and so is the bottle. I needed a new water bottle so it was perfect timing. I shall be testing it out on my after-work bike ride today! Thank you!!

To my dear Secret Sister -
:D :D :D
This week I was greeted at my front door by a package from you!
:D :D :D
I ripped into it like a kid ripping into a present at Christmas - I was so excited! The first thing that I found was the adorable Scarecrow door hanger which I promptly hung on my front door. Next I found the grape jelly - all the way from your home area - MAN, is it tasty. I have hidden the jam in the vegetable drawer behind the broccoli to prevent my 11 year old son from eating it all! I also found lotion, a small candle, and a water bottle and some goodies to put in my jersey when I ride again next spring. And finally, the coffee - here, I will hold it up, can you smell it? Mmmmmmm.................... And, like a typical kid, I didn't open the card until last :o
:D :D :D
You really made my day. I have tried three different times to post a thank you from my work computer, as we have been without home internet service for over a week now, but I could not get the post to go through. Finally I am able to say thanks - you are so thoughtful.

Yippee, I finally got my package sent. Just want to thank my SS for being so patient with me. Hope you'll be suprised when you get it.
Also, I'd like to thank my SS. I came home to a wonderful box filled with a variety of goodies and have enjoyed all of them. I'd considered trying the injinji socks and now I've had the chance. They're great. I also really like the decorative box. Shot blocks are one of my favorites, too. Thanks for everything!

Dear Flyby, my secret sister. Your very impressively sized package arrived today.
(this is my husband's and my birthday week)
"Did you order this?"
"no - do you know the name on the return address?"
"no"
"Idaho?"
"You don't know what this is?"
INSIDE were some of the most BEAUTIFUL potatoes I have EVER SEEN fresh from Idaho!!! and Huckleberry Jam, where I spent a Christmas Holiday, the last as a single person. Raleighdon and I had just started dating, so he was not invited. We each pined away for each other that Christmas, but Cascade was SO BEAUTIFUL.
I really appreciate the book, we will read it and pass it on (I wanted to read it!) It's Lance's book it's not about the bike AND some tea, AND some nice shopping bags.
Interestingly enough, she also sent me some dry hashbrowns! We'll try those for breakfast VERY SOON.
Flyby, you might not know it, but I lived in Idaho for almost 10 years, met my DH there and had my first child. Your gifts from Idaho really touched me. Thanks!
and thanks for the Montana Waterbottle!
and all this on top of the cute bike teeshirt!!!

I am so glad that you like all of your goodies. I had a lot of fun figuring out what to put in the package.
Where in Idaho did you live?
I love living here. I enjoy the open space, the scenery, the fishing, the mountains, the recreation, and the people. Where I live, I can drive two hours in any direction and be somewhere spectacular - Yellowstone National Park in one direction, Sun Valley resort in another, Salmon River area in another, a beautiful lake called Bear Lake in another, the state capital of Utah is about three hours away, and the state capital of Idaho is about four hours away. It is such a treat to have that much fun waiting right around the corner.
Payette Lake was a beautiful experience this summer and I am glad that you got the opportunity to stay there. I have been there twice now. The first experience was with a camp for adults who were mentally ill - it was a blast. That would be a great place to pine away for a man!! Did you ride you bike around the lake? We didn't bring bikes this summer because we took a van and to save on gas and had it packed to the ceiling with the tent and other camping stuff for the five of us. I don't think we could have fit a rubber snake in the back if we tried!!!
Have a great day!

Flyby, I lived first in Boise then in Eagle (before they allowed growth and subdividing of farm properties)
I lived in the center of a working 50 acre farm in a tiny rental house, on floating feather road. My driveway was 500 feet long. When they grew corn I had absolute privacy. No neighbors either.
THat's where Raleighdon and I lived the first year of our marriage. And before that, when gas was cheap, I spent all my free time cavorting about Idaho, both in an old volkswagen and also hiking. We drove everywhere; to all corners of the state. It was a great place to be a young adult; I was able to afford to get a horse - pasture was cheap.
I'm surprised you didn't send me an Idaho Spud candy bar, but i'm glad you didn't; they're gross!

I totally agree that they are gross! I actually WAS going to send you ONE just because I know people who like them and thought I'd take the chance - lucky for you, the local Wal-Mart only sold them by the case and they were $17.84. I think they are a disgrace to chocolate!!!
Your time in Idaho sounds like so much fun. I love the mental picture of you cruising around exploring the state - ah, to be free of the responsibilities of work and kids and have that time to do whatever one wants to do, when one wants to do it!
Eagle is HUGE now. It is bigger than Blackfoot, which really isn't that hard to beat, but I can't believe how fast it has grown. Boise, too. My sister lives in Boise. I love to visit her there but I also can't wait to get home to the peacefulness of where I live - our population is roughly 17,000 but we are spread out over a huge area. The actual "city" is small. I live at one edge of the city limits. To get to the other side of the city on my bike takes about 10 minutes. Nice.
Have a great day! I have lots to do today - better get to movin'!

Flybye, I'm glad i left before all the foothills got covered with houses. We had goats and chickens and for a while, I even had horses in my back yard. I took days off from work and just rode my horse down the street along (and sometimes through) the potato fields.
we got our VW stuck in mud near Sweet, Idaho, and got guns pointed at us in Rome, Oregon (because we looked like HIPPIES!) lots of good memories!

I have a cold and the tea looks like it will do the trick. After that I think I can use the pampering kit as I am in need of pampering! My cold office always sends me looking for hot chocolate and this week I need the little stress guy!! Thank you so much for such a wonderful gift.

OK, I received my box of goodies in the mail today..from Mass I think..I"m not good with abbreviations of states..and by scanning back I think Tygab is my SS. THere was no name only a return address. MY gu and sharkbites were froze. (It is like 18degrees, windy and snowing presently and they were out on the mailbox for a little too long). I have never tried the sharkies before, am excited as I've heard about them. Havent' tried that flavor of GU before. Gosh, I wish spring would get here..the water bottle and socks are perfect. One can never have too many blinkies (mine received damage from my last ride when it fell off so its perfect). THanks so much for the thoughtful gifts--they will be well used in the upcoming cycling year...thanks again..

i received my package last week, but work and a nasty cold have kept me from properly thanking my SS. IFjane sent me a most wonderful package that wsa full of lots of fun things. i'm wearing the warm fuzzy socks right now and they are helping while i battle my cold bug and fell chilly all the time. and there is a package for making eleven bean soup which will be yummy when i make it and i bet will help fuel me in my spin class. and the tote bag that everything was packaged in is perfect for carrying my shoes and water bottle to spin - something i had been thinking i needed to find and had yet to do anything about it. several other fun things round it all out and i couldn't be happier. thank you so much, it cheered me at a time when work, life and health had been dragging me down!
now i've got to get out and get shopping for my SS, as the whole work, life and health thing have delayed that as well. but i promise that i will do that this weekend and get mine in the mail soon too!
i'm so glad i joined this, it was such a nice surprise at my door!

I am sure - once spring arrives and I can commute to work (call me a weenie but I don't commute in the dark - it is an 18 mile one-way ride) - that I will put it to good use. I love the oak leaf dish and the goodies inside, the apple tea light holder is beautiful and the rest of my haul is wonderful. I'm sorry I've been so late to post but I got your box 2 days ago and I was overwhelmed with goodies!
I got some magnets (which I collect, so it was a great gift) and have been dubbed an honorary Cheesehead! Yay!
I also got a book on Wisconsin with beautiful pictures, a Harley Davidson mug with coffee (yum!), cycling socks, and Green Bay packers decals. I hope I didn't leave anything out. Oh wait! A Wisconsin ornament which unfortunitely can't go up this year as we're not doing a tree :( since we won't be around at Christmas.
I was so happy to receive your box, and my husband was jealous that I get all these goodies and no one sent him anything. :)
Thank you so much, sending warm wishes accross the ocean.

Thank you SS Cindy! The box was dropped at the house yesterday - the chai looks delicious and I love chai, so that will be a great winter cheer. Loved the other goodies too - the snow socks will actually inspire me to snow bike this year I think, and the LBS water bottle is great too! Also enjoyed the Atlanta themed glass - I haven't been in a while (used to go every few months for work) and this is a nice way to remember the fun parts of the city!
A wonderful mid December surprise... :)
Thanks so much to my secret sister! I got the package last week and I love everything. :D I'm a newbie so it's my first taste of Shot Bloks. :) I like it. Also, the wreath ride socks are my first riding socks. They're so cute. And I love the sconce night light with the bike outline.

Wow, I came home to my SS package. Such nice stuff...I love the t-shirt. I am looking forward to trying the coffee's and 'real' hot chocolate. Love the lip balm, my favorite too. And of course the water bottle will be well used. The calendar is a good size to keep at my desk. I was reading the chocolate package to see what it takes and was curious what 'Mexican Molinillo' is? Anyway, THANK YOU, my SS from Liberty Hill TX...is it you Aggie Ama?

SBC- the little taste of Texas is from me. I honestly couldn't tell you what Mexican Molinillo is but I have had Mexican style hot chocolate in San Antonio and it is tasty. The cinnamon is what makes it for me! I am not a coffee drinker but pecans are a fall staple in Texas and the other just sounded yummy. :p
I wanted to tell you the story behind the shirt.... The shop did an inspirational contest of what every mile meant to customers. You wrote what your miles meant on a card, it was quite beautiful, humorous and inspiring.
Glad everything arrived safely, it was an adventure once I got an envelope too small.

I can't wait to sample the hot beverage mixes you sent and am looking forward to coating my lips in the tastey lip balms you enclosed. Once I finish the book I'm currently reading I'm looking forward to reading the collection of ghost stories you sent. The foot massager will be put to good use for my toes/legs are always tired after a long day of standing/walking my classroom. The box of goodies was great! Thanks again and Happy Holidays!

I don't want to sound whiney - well I do actually. I am begining to wonder if my SS's package has been stolen from our letterbox. One of my son's birthday presents was stolen about 5 weeks ago & given I have recieved nothing in the post yet I am wondering if my SS parcel has come to the same ends. If so... then to my SS - thankyou. I do hope it's just the slow Xmas mail from the other side of the world.

I'm also a little concerned about my secret sis package. It's been awhile since I mailed it. But I keep reminding myself that some people are still on family holidays and might not be in town until after New Year. So I'll wait a little longer.

NZ gals, i think it's the postal gremlins. No one i know in Italy has gotten their packages from the USA (OR NZ) yet either and it's been MONTHS!

Kim/Possegal,
Thanks for the items! :) I love the hand lotion, it smells oh so mmmmm. Good thing you placed it in a bag as i think customs may have opened it but not sealed it properly. The tiny jars are really cute! I sure hope I can keep Ian away from the water bottles! The Burts Bees items are cool! (they didn't melt either!!!)
:( One of the Heinz items was siezed by customs and will be destroyed as it didn't meet customs regulations :( The letter states "Due to the specific risks presented by the items sent to you, treatment is not possible."
I guess the upside is Ian won't have to deal with my smelly behind :o
Thank you again for sending the package & I hope your trip home to PA wasn't too cold!

Is anyone still waiting for their package??

how weird that one of the heinz jars was taken, i'm going to guess it was the mayo one and the ketchup and mustard made it?? i had no idea what to expect from the customs issues, i am used to mailing to canada to my family there, and adept at getting around the system by a number of tricks. :) but this was my first package to australia. so glad it made it safe and sound and so sorry for the huge delay. if it is any consolation, my hectic life lately has me equally as scattered at work so my bosses are dealing with my "oooops, when is that due again" problems as well!

Hey Possegal,
It was the beans that didn't make it through :o Aust & NZ quarantine rules can be a wee bit strict
It's totally cool about the delay! I was worried that some postal gremlin had it. (some postal gremlin must have my mom's package too!)
I hope you can go for a ride & get rid of the scattered gremlins :) can you bike atm where you are?

oh too bad, it was a cajun bean soup. oh well, i should have figured.
i felt so bad that i was so late, but as i've said on the board in darn near every post it seems, my sister has cancer and my life is rather taken over by it. the last two months was a lot of follow-up scanning after radiation and chemo and lots of appointments to determine the next plan of attack. now i'm off to PA again as she's going to have a lobectomy to hopefully take out the upper left lobe and the tumor (location of the tumor has us worried that he won't be able to get it with one lobe and he won't take them both). i am a dr of pharmacology and toxicology who coincidently works in the oncology field, so i'm the family member of choice to be present for all these things. i wouldn't be anywhere else, but it does cause me to drop a lot of balls in other areas of my life. :)
i'm a weather wimp so i get afraid of riding in the cold and wet weather. i have been able to keep running and spinning though and i plan to bring my bike to PA for the surgery since i could be there for many weeks and even in pittsburgh we do get some oddly warm days in january and february, so i'm going to count on a few of them. :)
anywho - so glad it made it, relatively safe and sound. :)
