View Full Version : Bike fitting
Is is normal for a bike shop to charge you for a bike fitting- even if you aren't going to buy from them? I mean a LBS too?
Esp if you are probaly going to buy other things from them- just not a bike (because you are getting a better deal and brand elsewhere- not a bike shop though... not somewhere that can fit you.)

If you're referring to a formal fitting like a Fit Kit - it absolutely is normal for a shop to charge for a fitting. My LBS has different prices (lower, that is) if you also purchase a bicycle or shoes from them - depending on the type of fitting you need.
As an example - here's a link to the pricing page for fittings from my LBS - Wheelworks in Belmont and Somerville, MA: fitting prices (http://www.wheelworks.com/repair.htm#Fittings).

define fitting: are they just eyeballing everything or are they doing a formal fit session? I've had some excellent eyeball sessions, but LBS also charges for certified Serrotta fit sessions.

The link I included above with prices for fitting at my LBS was for formal fit sessions.
Hmmm.
I think I better just go to a trek dealer and get a formal fitting if I am shelling out that much cash... =/
