Generally, I'm pretty frugal. And generally I'm pretty opinionated. And generally I'm not too easily swayed by vanity.

But every once in a while  :p

So I managed to pick up a nice carbon-al bike frame in my size for $200.
less than 300 miles, no scratch/dent nada!!
A nice SET of wheels, front and rear, for $200. (new) Xero Lite XR-1
A very nice FSA handle bar for mere $25.00 (new) RD 200
A set of new skewer (back is Ti front is steel: NEW ) $30
gots stem which it fit.
seat gots sella Itallia in red/white.

Then I came across this:

my bike frame is red and white. I've ordered red bar tape, Michellin pro 2 race in red/blk so I think I would like to have this in beautiful white. But can I justify this?? I can get two of them... (i give up. how do I get the text to go below the image?) Planning on getting one of the three groupo. Ultegra, SRAM FORCE or DA (might be had for cheap than Ultegra)

I guess I'm trying to say its okay to splurge since I saved on the other stuff. Normally I would never show the price tag. :D

I guess i'm nermal :D

I put Chris King (I think) Ti water bottle cages on my Legolas last year. I think they were more than that. If you have the money, why not? It's your money.

Go for it! If you end up getting something else, you'll be sorry. At least that's how it works with me. :-)

I've got this cage (http://www.velo-orange.com/niboca.html) on my Glorius and haven't regretted spending the money for one minute. It's a work of art.

If you want it, get it.

I bought 2 really nice carbon (black) cages for my road bike when I bought and then realized cause of the size of frame that they both did not fit on my frame. So, I gave one to my hubby - who then wanted to buy another cause he needed two that matched!

How could I say no! Of course, I told him to go for it! :D

I put Chris King (I think) . . . .

King but not Chris. :)

I use either King stainless or ti on several of my bikes. They don't mark up the bottles. I really like the Iris cage.

As long as you're saving plenty for retirement you can spend what you want. But make sure you're saving first, do you understand me young lady ? ;)

Now, now Zen - you know that is not how this forum works! Where are your enabling skills? ;)

If its what you lurve, and what will complete your bike then go for it (only after you have put something aside for retirement of course :p )

My enabling skills say... make her post a pic once cage is attached...

Now THAT's a gorgeous cage! Thanks for the web site, too.

SmilingCat, you are the QUEEN of finding good deals. Would love a little short course on this.

When I think about trying to find good deals like you do, I always feel a lack of confidence (what do I look for, how do I know it is a good deal, are people who offer these deals trustworthy, what if stuff is damaged...what is it with all these confidence fears, anyhow?).

I just put two of these (http://www.serfas.com/images/medium/CC-300-blue.jpg) on my new bike. I kinda felt silly spending so much but 1. they gave me a good discount since I got them at the same time I got th new bike. and 2. They match!

I would spend the money. if you are like me, and your bike and riding are staples in your life, I would go for it. I race and originally had super inexpensive bottle cages on my bike, and the bottles fell right out in the middle of a crit!!! Not good. I went back and spent more on the right bottle cages (and got them to match my frame) and no more bottles falling out to the wayside (or potentially causing crashes). I would get the cages.
