I am going to invest in a new bike this spring.... but I am wondering if anyone has a shop they like where I could get a good quality fit (money's not an issue, but I want it to be well spent).

I am not going to be buying the bike from the shop, and I don't know if they will have issues with this. If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated!

PK Racing in Fairfax is great. Chris does a really good fit. Plan to spend about 2 hours there. He will fit you to an existing bike or fit you and give you specs to order a bike from anywhere. He does sell Serotta there, but doesn't push that at all. He charges enough on the bike fit that it doesn't really matter.

Also Endurance Mill Valley does a good fit as well. They use a laser set up. I think the cost is comparable.

Thanks!!! I'll look into both.

Once you get your new bike fit, you'll be all ready to start training in February for the Death Ride... ;) (I coach a Team in Training group for the Death Ride, and we ride in Sonoma. Napa and Marin counties - perfect for you! We start training in the beginning of February and the ride is second week of July. Just think about it.....)

Already planning on it! With TIT.... my friend Sarah Betman did it last year, and we are planning on doing it this year :)

Actually it is the main reason I'm getting a new ride in the first place! (But the other reason is that I am a gear snob and I love sexy bicycles) I'm excited!

small world :) she says "hi"... I'm currently watching her spin in circles while she tries to pack for Nepal.

I can't wait to start training! See you (on my new bike?!) in February!

Go see Chris at Robinson Wheelworks in San Leandro. Best shop in the Bay Area hands down!

Nepal. I am so jealous it's hard to focus...

We'll get a ride in before February. When the grand Sherpa returns we will get together. I've been spending too much time riding motorcycles and not enough riding bikes right about now, but it's all good. :D

I was very happy with the recent bike fit I had with Lorri Lee Lown (velogirl, here on the TE forum). http://coaching.velogirls.com

+1 on that, he's built me 4 bikes so far  1 full custom and 3 "customized". But I'm just there for the coffee ;)

+2 for Chris at Robinson Wheel Works. (and the coffee!)

He got all scientific and precise just figuring how to adjust a borrowed bike to fit me for a little afternoon ride! Great guy, very sweet, and a real bike guru.

SassyC, feel free to email me if you'd like some advice -- Lorri@velogirls.com

Five One and TPrevost, thank you for your endorsements! I hope both of you are well. TPrevost, are you riding (gentle hint)? I was up in your neck of the woods this weekend racing the Salmon Duathlon in Knight's Ferry.

Grand Sherpa has asked me to get her out once she gets home, so we'll plan a ride. I'm not really sure if I'll want to be friends with her once she's back from my dream vacation!
