So, I was trying on stilettos last night with a friend, running around in a Benny Hill fashion through the back of the store, when it hit me: I can sprint in stilettos.
I've done it several times downtown (drunk, no less). I am considering entering the Jimmy Choo sprint/dash, if there is one, next year. It happens in Germany. They offer mucho amounts of Jimmy Choo shoes to the winner.
Discuss.
I can barely walk in sneakers:o . The shoes are all yours, have at it.

I had cycling camp and only took my cycling shoes. So the only non-cycling shoes I had were the ones I had worn to work. I got a few comments ...

Sign me up! I, too, can run in heels (and I enjoy showing off this skill!). In fact, yesterday a co-worker mentioned that I looked like someone in an action movie as I ran across the street, dodging traffic in my heels.

"Pole" footwear? As in infamous light-up heels?

Ah. Yes. Well being that I have over 100 pairs of shoes (perhaps 150 counting cycling shoes and running/hiking shoes, etc) some are stilettos. And yes, I have the infamous 6" heels! I don't have the light-up kind, alas, but my instructor does.
Here's what I've learned. It is FAR easier to go quickly in heels than not. I can run in 'em :D When I fall over is when I try to walk very slowly.
Did not know of such a race. Might be worth finding videos of!

Man, i normally can't walk in heels :o . My friend tried so hard to shoe shop with me for a heeled shoe that wasn't high! We eventually found a pair.
I'll leave stiletto racing to you ladies!

There may be vids on Youtube. Watched it not so long ago and was seriously impressed by the winner. I don't know time, but she was cooking. I'd imagine she ran the distance in stilletos faster than I could in sneaks!

there is an annual 'high heel race' in DC around halloween. of course it is men doing the running, but some are better in high heels than i ever could be.
here is a youtube video from last year, view at your own risk as there is off-color language and more than a little irreverant poking fun at people. just warning ahead of time.

wonder if they would consider adding a biking component to the evening?
on a side note, my brother in law rode in the MS ride from the jersey shore to philly and he said that every year there is a woman who rides it in high heels and a tutu? i think that's what he said. :)

Yes, but do you think we could get her to wear her cycling socks with her 6" heels? 'Cause that's what makes the look. ;) :D

oh, am sure that Teigyr - being the amiable, helpful sort o' woman - would be amenable to wear cycling socks...that is, until she pulls out the pole and then, who knows what'll happen!!:D

Hot dog! I call a PNW TE party at Teigyr's house, 'cause ya know, that's where the pole is at! :D ;)
How's 'bout it Teigyr? :D :p
