Anyone start Christmas shopping yet? I haven't bought anything yet, but have a couple of ideas. GF and I are only going to buy each other a couple of things, we decided we really didn't need anything.

no. I need to. We're going to New York in a couple of weeks so maybe we will find things there. I can't believe it's here already but then again I say that every year!

Yep, I bought DSS a sporran. He kept fondling BiaK's sporran when he was here last summer so I just had to get him his own. I have a few ideas for the other members of my family, but I like to wait a bit with the younger kids because their lists change (and grow) as Xmas gets closer. As usual, I have no idea what to get my brother. He's got just 'bout everything. So I was thinking of getting a new wheel built for his bike, but I don't know if Dh will have time to do that.

Anyhow, this year I'm going to try to get everything online so that I don't have to deal with the hassles of traffic into downtown Seattle or the craziness of the malls. I came to the realization that being around crowds of other stressed out shoppers sucked the fun out of the holidays for me.

Haven't bought halloween candy yet...

Around my place, Xmas shopping happens right after school gets out, around December 21st this year.

Dh and I do not buy for each other. We buy what we want all year long and call it good enough. I usually give my 1 brother money, he can always use that. The rest of my fellow siblings either get a card or nothing. They give the same in return. My parents get a grocery store certificate. SIMPLE as that. We do however get together on Xmas eve and have a meal together. Isn't that what it is really all about?. DH and I enjoy the decorations, lights, sounds of the season. Of course, who can forget all the cookies!!! So no, my shopping is really done before the hustle and bustle arrives..and it's a good thing as Martha would say;)

I do kinda wish our family would cut out most of the presents. There is only one person who qualifies as a child. But I'm not sure even he still believes in Santa.

I would like an inflatable kayak. You may all pool your funds.

I just bought one thing. A good deal today on sheets from SmartBargains. Except, I don't know if it is going to be a Christmas present or if I am going to save it for a wedding shower gift. My 27 year old son is getting married in March.

I haven't done any shopping yet but some gifts are ready. I was a canning fool this summer so a lot of my gifts will include jams, jellies, plum sauce, etc. I'll probably do some shopping while I'm in Seattle in Nov. too.

I'm so bad at holding onto gifts until holidays that I usually wait until a week or so beforehand to do all of my shopping.

I'm done.

We're going on a cruise with the Barenaked Ladies in January. That's my hub's and my present, and Will's getting a scooter. I already picked up a few things for my other kids and their S.O.'s and the grandson on my travels. So, I'm done! :) It's a good feeling.

Play video games with him? (I think it's a boy, right?)

Go look at scooters?

Ride bikes?

Nature walks?

Teach him how to drive?

Find all the great books in movie format and watch them together?

That's what me and my 14 yo have been doing lately. (He turns 14 on the 5th, soon enough.)

I know a woman who could use some manual labor remodeling...

I've been trying to get my family to do that for years. I'd much rather have a nice meal and play Scrabble, Pictionary, or Trivial Pursuit

Knott-

How about some kind of community service project? You don't want to make his life a living he!! for 2 months, but I don't think you'd want it to be a vacation either....
