Count me in for the Tour De Foothills. Amy and I both intend to do the short ride. We should meet up afterwards and plan our next ride! Someday we'll be ready to join you on one of your mega-rides...

Hey ladies, I would like to join you for the ride. I'll know for sure within the next couple of days. I'd like to do the metric, but I haven't been on my bike since the Waves to Wine, MS 150 at the end of Sept. (Had to SAG part of that). Work commitments have gotten in the way, and I am still semi-recovering from a bad crash I had on Labor Day weekend (knee, hip, thigh injuries). Anyway, I really want to meet all of you and the ride sounds fun.
I'll let you know for sure.

Nina, the short ride on Tour De Foothills is only 30 miles....

Sounds cool! Aly talked me into the Tour de Foothills. Taking a day off of work and riding my bike... yeah, she really had to fight hard on that one. :) See you all there!

Okay ladies, I'm in. Will have to figure out a way to find each other, i.e., I need to find you. Maybe Fredwina can help with a location, or we can cell phone each other. Can't wait to meet you all!!

let me work on it. maybe the smoke from Lake Arrowhead will have cleared by then.:( It's still very thick out here.
P.s I'll have Sliver and Red Cannondale with truck rack and Carbon fiber handlebars(gee, wonder why I call myself Fredwina?:p )

I sure hope the smoke has cleared!! Maybe I'll wear my AV jersey. That should be easy to spot.

there's a band shell on the South side of the park that should be a good meeting place

It appears that the Tour De Foothills didn't quite turn the way had planned:( I really didn't want to try and bumpsince it appears that everyone had things come up.
Plus some how I found on the front of 30-miler. It went prettey well. I didn't have to help anyone, unlike last year w/ Mr. NoToolsNoTube and an attitude:confused:
I was at Cycling Connection's booth aprez ride.
so, Do we want to try do something again?

I'm up for meeting some ladies for a social paced ride...

Maybe in the 20-30 mile range (or shorter/longer) whatever

another Idea:
my club (Cycling Connection) will be holding women's rides on sunday in december at 2:30 pm.:)
They're going to be low-key things.
The bad news: you have to Drive all the way out to Rancho Cucamonga:eek:
Take the 210 to Day Creek Go North(up hill) two lights:

AliceStrong, How is the San Gabirel Trail? I've only done the section near azusa.
Speaking of the San Gabriel River, I was planning riding up to Crystal lake either Thursday or Friday next week. The reason why i'm mentioning this is that there is a path(actually a closed road) from Highway 39 to Cogswell Dam:

It's Fairly Flat and pretty. I could arrange my schedule to ride along part of the way :o

I like it. It's a great ride to Seal Beach for lunch at River's End.

Unfortunately last Monday a guy was jumped and his bike stolen. It's always better to ride the trail with a buddy. When I hear of things going down it always involves a lone rider. I always carry pepper spray myself. I have not personally had anything happen but I hear...

Thanks!
I'm planninga Fleche' (24 hour) with buddy, and looks like we're going down the SGRT and up the SART. was thinking about a solo scouting expedition, but :(
Do you have any opinosn about the Rio Hondo I work in El Monte, and would like to do a mixed Train/bike commutee, but the neighborhood here isn't the best. The Rio Hondo pretty much runs right behind my work location (Rosemead Blvd and the 10 Freeway)

alicestrong

The Rio Hondo is a mess right now and will be into 2008. It's closed for construction from Rush to Lashbrook and that whole area around Rosemead/Garvey is bike unfriendly. Congestion and closed lanes.

Don't get scared off the SGRT. It is no better or worse than the SART or Ballona. Use common sense that's all.

I live in South El Monte and almost never use my car so I know lots of good routes if you want to PM me about commuting.

I want to ride! I missed the Tour de Foothills because I pulled my groin muscle. It's an old injury that keeps causing me problems. I was off the bike for a few weeks, so I've slowed down quite a bit. Hopefully I'll get back up to speed before too long. Let me know if anyone plans anything.

That's OK!
I went pavement surfing in Fontana on Saturday, so I'm out of it for a while:(
Will let you all when I'm back in the saddle

Fredwina, are you ok? I hope it wasn't a bad one...

Getting better.....
This is really ironic.
The City of Fontana decided to initiate a major Construction project on one of my brevet routes. i was out checking out an alternative when I hit a Blacktop/ Concrete Transition just right:( To further the irony. I just switch the route to the "new" way
Got a whole bunch of Road rash, a sprained shoulder ,and a smashed helmet. To top it off REI refused to honor the Crash warranty on it (A Giro Monza). But, Competitive Edge actually gave me me the crash discount on a Specialized Decibel:) . I figure the Carbon fiber should be good for another 2mph :p
