I glanced at my bike computer today while DH and I were pedaling past a wonderful huge dairy farm. It said 3,000.1 miles for 2007 so far! Woo-HOOOO! :p :p :p
I know there are tons of women here who ride more than me, and tons who ride less- but isn't it just fun to hit a new personal milestone, no matter if it's small or large? It shows us that we are heading in the right direction, and that's what counts. :D
Anyone else hit any significant milestones lately that they want to tell about?

Lisa,
3000 miles is a huge accomplishment!!! Congratulations!!! That's the equivalent of riding across the US and then some. :)

WoW! That is incredibly impressive to me... I started riding just this past April. I've got 1,000 miles.
Congratulations!
I hit a milestone today and posted all about it on a thread called "a new accomplishment". :D

I was hoping to ride 2500 miles this year, but injuries, etc have put that out of reach. Still, I was excited today that I finally passed 1500 miles. :)

3000 miles! Wow, Lisa, that's fantastic. I think you deserve a NEW BIKE! You are serious about your riding! :D

conratulations Lisa- that's quite an accomplishment and I'll bet it makes the pedals spin easier than normal!
I've hit my highest yearly mileage this year with 1800 miles- but I'm still hoping to pass 2,000 if the frost and snow can hold off a bit longer in Michigan....

Good for you Lisa!;) :D
Isn't it amazing how you "caught the moment"?

In the small department, I turned my odometer over to 500 miles since July 20th on the Big Dam Bridge ride. :)
I didn't have a mileage goal, so I'm really happy that so many miles accumulated just taking easy rides to get ready for the 50. My family is still in the category of "impressed at 15 mile rides", so 500 miles knocks their socks off. lol.

Congrats, Lisa.
3K is great!
I'm on track to exceed my 2007 goal of 2500 miles this year....assuming I have no more run-ins with idiot cagers...which would be a p.r. for me, too.

Congrats Lisa!!:D :D :D
My personal accomplishment, huge to some and small to others is we completed our FOURTH century of the year! They were all in a span of 2.5 months, too. :)

Congrats, Lisa. The leap between 2500 and 3,000 was a lot for me last year. I had set 2500 as a goal and made 3,000 on X Mas day. This year, though I had to downsize my goal. I had 3,000, but I dropped it to 2500 when all of my medical issues started. I'm pretty close (probably a weeks worth of riding for a lot of the people here), so I hope to make it by December.

I hit 1000 miles in 3 months and would love to log more, but work, family, etc. seem to get in the way. My mom has been in the hospital for the past 3 days and I've been staying with her. I needed to do 65 miles yesterday for my upcoming century ride, but it didn't happen. Today, I'm doing a 20-25 mile mantal health ride.

Well done Lisa! It is exciting to hit our own personal milestones. I did 2700 km last year and had (have) a goal to do 4025 km (2500 miles) this year. I was well on my away until I started with the problems with my hip so I'm not sure if I can make it or not. I was including indoor miles as far the bikejournal 2500 mile race was concerned so if I can, I will do some indoor trainer miles in Nov/Dec if my hip lets me.
I guess my big goal this year was 931 km in August. I tried to avg 30km/day for the month and just made it. Next year my goal will be increasing speed/power rather than miles.
Oh, and I almost forgot I did my first real century this summer. 162 km with 6000' of climbing. Whoo hooo!
Cyclingmom - yeah, that work thing is what interferes with my biking too...

Most excellent... 3000 miles is an excellent tally
I have done 3600... but they are kilometres, not miles :p
Enjoy, it is so good to reach these personal milestones

I think it's so GREAT what everyone here has done!
When I think about all the people who just sit on their butts all the time and think up ways to avoid any exertion at all...well it's just such a difference when you read about all the women on this forum and how much effort they put into trying to get active and healthy. Good for all of us, YAY! :p :p :p :p
Anne- thanks for mentioning that "coast to coast" statistic- it made my day! I Mapquested the distance between my house here in New York and the heart of San Francisco CA....and it was 50 miles LESS than what I've ridden so far this year! What a great thought to keep myself inspired- thank you! :D :D
I decided I would treat my bike to some new tires this winter. ;) :p

Hey Lisa,
So glad that made your day and inspired you! It's funny how we can ride these huge distances but without something concrete to tie it to it is hard to realize how huge they really are.
When I was training for my first century this summer I would add a few miles on to each long weekend ride and one weekend (when I was up to about 75) my parents wanted me & my sister to visit, so I figured we'd have to drive part way and find a good place to stop and then ride a few miles over 80. It has always seemed *so far* to my parents house but it turns out it was only 60 miles, so we had to take the long route! 75/80 miles doesn't seem like that much when it's out and back, but when I realized I'd ridden from my house to theirs it seemed like a huge distance.
And your bike *definitely* deserves new tires!!

congrats, Lisa, 3000 miles is great!
I'm still aiming towards my goal of 2500 miles.... plod plod plod..
You can still get to 4000 this year if you focus!
3000 miles builds a lot of muscle.

Congrats Lisa...That is such a huge accomplishment. YOu should be tootin' your horn over that one. i've only got 2566 miles..had to go and check my odometer to make sure. My goal was 2500, now to push for the 3000 before ol' man winter sets in. People tell me, I wish I had energy to ride like that. I tell them that biking increases your energy and ones energy is increased with routine exercise, esp. biking. But really feel that goes onto deaf ears. Too bad, they don't know what they are missing. Again, congrats..keep up the work, or riding;)

Thanks again you guys, and keep going on your wonderful goals too!
Mimi- I have built up some MAJOR muscles this year on my legs. Sadly, there is still a layer of fat on the surface that sort of disquises my wonderful new muscles. :(
Now I have to try to work on THAT so that I can actually SHOW OFF my muscly legs! ;) :D
I don't think I'll be making any 4000 mile level in 2007 though Mimi. It's starting to get cold and our work is coming in faster, leaving me less time. I've already dropped from a 100 mile per week average all summer down to 70.... :o
Plus my knee is hurting and I may do more fitness walking both to help my knee and to get some exercise in during bad biking weather.

congratulations Lisa. I know how you feel. I am 39 miles from my goal of 2000 for the year.
I set this goal two years ago. That year I fractured my shoulder on Labor Day so I ended the year with 1800. Last year I opened a retail store so I was off the bike for two months and was shy of my 2000. Needless to say, I will end this year with 2000+. Next year will be 2500 along with another goal I have been working on for my dh.

Lisa, I've been following you literally and figuratively for awhile now. I'm closing in on 3000 miles myself. Looking forward to that one! Congratulations! Way to go!

Frankly, I don't know how we all do it! :p
Congratulations for zooming in on your goals. Life tends to throw curve balls at us as well. I did well for me this year- who knows what challenges will arise next year? Last year my mother died and I had to devote a lot of time to her....this year I had no crisis to deal with, so I had more time to ride AND work.
We can only do our best and make good decisions as we go along. :) I admire so many women on this forum who have to deal with some very serious issues every single day, yet they keep chugging along and doing what they can. There is some incredible strength and courage here.

Congratulations, Lisa!
This is my first year at road riding, and my goal was to put in 1,500 this year. Just cracked 1,400 the other day...I'm gonna make it! And that's only HALF of what you've done! :D Fantastic!
TE is truly a great place to be, full of folks who keep reminding us why we're doing what we're doing. Life is good.

Sometimes if I'm doing a long hard climb, I look at my mileage for the year as I'm riding, instead of the day's mileage. It keeps me in a good frame of mind...
I say to myself, "Of course you're feeling it, you've ridden over 2000 miles! Who wouldn't be a little tired? And just a couple more to go..."

Regular commuting really piles up the miles. I don't know my miles for the year, because I got my odometer in April, but I just hit 3000 as well.

I just found your thread Lisa! Congrats! 3,000 miles is AWESOME!!! A friend of mine left today (not on his bike...in his car) to go to Canada. His round trip mileage will be about 3,000 miles and it's going to take him 2 days each direction. That sounds like a long road trip to me. But then to think you've ridden you bicycle that far! It's really pretty amazing, isn't it? I'm just shy of 2,500 myself and I am in complete shock that I've ridden that far in the 8 months I've had my bike!

I know what you mean Sara, those kind of distance in terms of bicycling don't really register in my brain. :D
(at first I thought your friend was going to try to BICYCLE 3,000 miles in 4 days.   then I read it again) :D :D
I'm getting brand new tires this week as a thank you gift to my bike for safely taking me all that way. :p

I thought of this thread today as I logged my bikejournal miles- 2997!! I wanted to ride at least 3 miles this afternoon but the wind was making it hard to keep my CAR on the road. Maybe tomorrow I can join the 3,000 club for the first time in my cycling life. :D
