I know there are quite a few dog lovers on this board so I thought I would share our new addition...Walter. AKA - Wally

Wally will be 8 weeks old on Saturday. My older guy (Oscar- 9 1/2 years old) is being the best bud he can be. The kids can't get enough of him.

Eventually Wally will replace Oscar as my hunting buddy but right now he is living in the lap of puppy luxury! Oscar was a great hunting dog but unfortunately his elbow has some bad Arthritis and he comes up lame after an hour or so. Wally has tough shoes to fill, O-dog is a Delta Certified Therapy dog and a mean pheasant hunter!

They are related... Wally's Grandma is Oscar's sister.

I was in the office the other evening...it got quiet so I came out to see what he was into and he was asleep next to Oscar. Such good boys!
Here are some pics of them sleeping together and one of him attacking the camera.

They are adorable together! What a cute face.

My ex and I used to have a chocolate(she is technically his, so he has her now), I never thought I was a lab person until I had one, now I love them!

Congrats on getting such a cutie and good for Oscar for taking him in under his wing!

Oh, the two sleeping together is ADORABLE. I am still very torn at getting another fur friend. I take loosing them so hard. I know I am still not over loosing Kallie....But, pics like yours makes my heart yearn....

Lab puppies are so stinking cute!! They just look so cuddly. Zen is right- isn't that the Cottonelle dog? COngrats on the new furbaby.

That is one nice looking little lab...I'd love to get my hands on him...feel what looks like a very solid construction!!

I love the way a new puppy perks up the older ones too....

Yes I was a little nervous about adding a new furr kid to the pack. I worried about my old guy not handling it well. He was my first baby and has taught me so much about discipline and love. He is not "old" in mind or attitude but I didn't want him to feel replaced....there I go putting "human" feelings onto the canine species but its hard not to.

Anyways he has always been a good uncle to other pups I have fostered so I wasn't too worried. The best part is that my 4-year old daughter has bonded with him in a way that has totaly surprised me. She is at his crate first thing in the morning, letting him out to go pee. Lets me know when its time to feed him. I am so happy she is connecting with him like this...a girl and her dog! She is learning responsibility and how to control her anger and actions around something so small...yet ferocious.(sharp little teeth!)

I agree he does look like the cottonelle dog! His breeder's website is www.waterspooklabradors.com if anyone is interested. There were 11 in his litter, 2 females blk/yllw, and 9 males, 5 ylw and 4 blk

Love my two human girls and my two canine boys!!!!

Adorable puppy and looks like you found a good breeder. Their website is impressive and the training options they have there are very cool. Congrats!

Zen - great rescue site too. I have a big soft spot for rescue dogs and currently volunteer at a local rescue.

Yes that is a pacifier in his mouth. I asked him to "fetch it up" and he picked it up the right way.
Thanks for the rescue link Zen. I totally believe and support the local rescues here but we wanted a hunting dog. Unfortunately with labs there has been so much backyard breeding that you just don't know what you are getting...hips/eyes/elbows etc. My breeder takes in rescues and helps them find "pet" homes all the time. If it was just a pet and I didn't have small children I would be all about the rescues. I donate and help out in anyway I can because yes there are too many unwanted animals out there.
It makes me cringe when someone says they want to breed their dog because its so nice and cute. UGH!!!

ACK... such cuteness! He looks like the sweetest baby ever. I wish you many happy years!

And good for you for using an ethical breeder. It's the next best thing to rescue and in your situation sounds like the right choice.

Nice rescue link, Zen. Didn't come across them when I was searching for a lab to adopt last year. I wound up with my lovable mutt, Hudson, though, and wouldn't trade him for the world... :D

Oh, so so so cute. We have a black (Sammy) and yellow (Pika) too. We call them Ebony and Ivory (and usually break into song ala McCartney and Wonder). They are so cute when they are pups but HELL ON FOUR PAWS!! :p Our yellow came from a breeder as she is a hunting dog (that obviously also gets to spend a lot of time on the sofa). The black is a rescue. We love them both so very much!

Too cute for words--esp. the two boys snoozing together. Those are some good-sized puppy paws on Wally!

I was rescued by the large chocolate fellow in my avatar--Cocoa--my only son!:D

Awwww, so cute! We brought our chocolate lab puppy home on October 20th (6 years ago!). Every year at this time when I hear the geese returning for winter I think of her as a tiny puppy, she loved watching the geese overhead and playing in the piles of leaves. Anyway, enjoy the puppiness, they grow so fast!

People, people, people! NEVER post pictures of puppies on here! I want one now!

My dogs are 11 and 14 years old, so I know now is not the time for a puppy, and when it is time for a new dog I know that I should adopt an older dog because the puppies will always find a home, but geez, that puppy is so darn sweet and the two of them look so cute together!

Not to hijack, but I got a new pup, too. Not near as cute as a round-bellied Lab (whose cuteness is KILLING me), at 6 months old at least I don't have to potty train her. :) She did chew the bungee latch off my new Keen's, though! argh! at myself for leaving them in her reach!

Here are two pictures Lucy posing for her close up, and then Lucy & Zeke, my other dog. They're numbers 1 and 2 in a series. Variations on a theme. Terrier mixes. I think Lucy is part Golden Retriever. Who knows about Zeke?

She is super cute! All I can think of is the dog from Annie! They totally compliment each other!

Yeah that potty training thing is a nice bonus. Wally just tried to go inside, scooped him up and put him outside. Let him wander around for 5 minutes, came back in and tried to pee inside again! Lovely stuff. So back outside for a little while...

I was spared the potty training too... I don't know how you have the patience! Then again, I'm a piano teacher, so maybe I do have enough patience... ;)

Lucy is out-of-this-world cute! I love dogs like that. She looks really fun to play with! There's a dog in the dog park that looks just like the "Tramp" from the Disney movie. He's my fave... :p

I googled the dog from Annie, and it is a Golden in some pics and some kind of strange Lhasa Apso looking thing in others. So, maybe my gut about Lucy being Golden (plus Airedale, some have said) is right on. That would make her a Golden Aire! ;)

not so. puppies don't ALWAYS find a home....especially older puppies. and i hate to say it, but now is an excellent time for a pup. she will perk up the older guys like you wouldn't believe, and they will help her become a dog....:D

Nope, it ain't gonna work.:p

I already know that when my two guys aren't around any more, I'll adopt elderly or sick dogs, or two who need to be kept together. I want the hard-to-place dogs that spend too much time in kennels or foster homes awaiting a permanent home.

And since my third dog died a year ago, two is my limit. Yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Those terriers are adorable, Tuckerville.
