I FINALLY got my new wheels and got them on The Lovely Madone today!
I finally chose the American Classic 420 bladed in black. (~1530g), red veloplugs (~6g), lunar lite tubes (~50g X 2 = 100g), conti supersonic tires (~155g X 2 =310g) total weight 1946g versus ~2500g on the old ones, plus the 34 mm aero rim. They feel quick and light!!!
Oh, I also had hybrid ceramic bearings installed.

No, I got The Lovely Madone last October 30. The same day that I had a chest tube put in to inflate my collapsed lung from the bike wreck the previous day.
I've put about 4400 miles on him this year. But I was never happy with the wheels. I never felt that the Bontrager Race wheels that were on it were worthy of the rest of the bike. I suppose they assume the you will upgrade the wheels.
I plan to use these wheels as race/special rides wheels and use the heavier wheels as training wheels. But I can see that it will be very difficult to take them off. :o

I have no idea what any of that means....but it must be fabulous judging from your excitement! :D :D Congratulations!! Sure is a sleek fast lookin' bike!
Like Quicksilver..... :p

Me neither. as long as my tires stay inflated, I'm happy.
I wanted to see a photo of shoes :(

Holy Cow, silver shoes!!!! :p :p
I am impressed. You are sleek from head to foot. :)
What do you do with your old wheels, Silver? Keep them or sell them? My DH is sort of collecting various tires now and I'm starting to wonder how many we will have eventually.
Here are my shoes:

Too funny!
My wheels do not really merit their own photo. :o
(hey, your roads are better than ours!!!)

Sweet! Your bike looks awesome; black was definitely the color to get in the wheels.

I remember when you were on your back in the hospital full of broken bones and how Mr. Silver came on here and said he was going to get you that bike so you would have something to inspire you to recover really quickly. It was so touching and marvelous. Now look how far you've come! :)
(and silver shoes too!) :D

Bee-yoo-ti-ful bike, Silver! Now all you need is this Bling jacket (http://www.terrybicycles.com/detail.html?item_no=5366) for fall! :D
Emily
That jacket would look good with those shoes.
It reminds me of something from The Outer Limits or something Emma Peel would wear.

Lisa, I plan to keep using the old wheels for most of my training. The plan is that the heavier wheels will make me stronger so that for races when I drop down to these lighter weight wheels, I'll be faster. That's the plan but I know that I'll have trouble taking these off.
The conti supersonic tires are racing tires. They will not hold up for lots of miles.
Lisa, your shoes look perfect for your bike!
Emily!  That jacket is beautiful!!!! Ohhhhhh....Silver!!! BUT.....$225
I do have silver bar tape that I've not yet installed. I'll wait til this tape gets a little older.
SR500, I like the Race X Lites too, but I wanted an aero rim since much of my mileage is alone and for triathlon racing. Are you the one whose husband asked me about Share the Road?

Very slick!
I have a hard time finding shoes that are not silver!
Silver, your bike and your wheels and your shoes are just beautiful! You've earned them, so I'm glad you've got them!
Hugs and butterflies,
~T~
Wow! Those wheels are gorgeous. I just bought the same bike a couple weeks ago. I'm still adjusting to a road bike after riding a heavy mountain bike. I think if I had lighter wheels, I'd feel like I was going to float off the earth! Congrats!

Your bike looks awesome Silver. I also love your shoes.
I want to change my bike tape on my Ruby to silver. That is what came on my Dolce and I really liked it, but they use white tape on the Ruby. Where did you get the silver bar tape. Specialized no longer carries it.
Thanks

the silver bar tape is cinelli C Ribbon the original. I think the color is Carbon Silver the code on the box says "NMCARBS" My LBS special ordered it for me.

Yes, he has hit a bit of a bump with the Share the Road signs. Right now the local "club" is pushing the city for offical bike routes, so "they" decided to hold off on the signs for now.
Speaking of DH,
DH here: Hi, I use Fizik Microtex Bar Tape in silver and love it. Looks great, cheap, great feel, I have it on all my bikes.

Mr. SR500, did I mention when I sent you the info earlier that we had to give up on the "club" to do anything and struck out on our own. Only after we got the ball rolling did the "club" decide to get on the bandwagon and now says that they got it started. We're not in it for the glory and so we let it ride.
Do you have a picture of that tape on your bike? I saw it when I did a search on the net, but this from the shop was a known quantity with no shipping cost (they had it in stock when I bought it the first time for my 1000).
Are you guys going to be at the Hilly?

you just use duct tape! ;) :D :D :D
I can afford that! Did she mention the wheels were anniversary present?
Emily, I'm ignoring you and your $225 Bling Jacket:D I thought you were a nice person ;)

Mr. here:
Here is the bike with some new Conti 4000s rubber. Unrelated, but I broke a spoke yesterday so the wheels is going to the shop today. I get the wrap from BikeTiresDirect.com, but it should be easy enough to find. I've used it on 5 bikes now.

I'm moving forward on the share the road signs, but this month they are making the final presentation on the bike routes, so I'll get my ducks in a row this winter, and have something ready this spring.
I thought about the hilly solo, but it's our anniversary this weekend, as well as a hayride, soccer, etc... All our good sitters graduated, so we might drive down with the kids and another couple Sat to take in the atmosphere and vendor tent, but no riding.
