If you're trying to find one with a Chamois, Find the chamois that you like the best and stick with it.

I'm in love with the Pearl Izumi 3d Tour Chamois. So I thought I'd give the knicker a go. http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=17198

They're cheap, Fits like a glove and they look damm sexy to boot! It doesn't get all that cold here. But when it does these are perfect.

Although I haven't worn any others to compare them with.
The chamois is not too cushy (and it's black). Matte fabric and they come down to just below the knee. I rode almost 90km in them yesterday and my behind feels ok.

I tried out my new zoelle running capris for my commute this morning. Nice reflective stripe down the side and I really like the wide waist band. The fabric could be a little more supportive though, it's very soft and stretches easily.

I've never been convinced that I need knickers, maybe because I prefer to have options during my ride - and also because it was such a battle to find shorts with a chamois that I like that I wasn't willing to go through that again with knickers.

Instead I use knee warmers from Pearl Izumi.

The shebeest pedal pusher knicker that Lisa gave the link to. I also love the SSS 2007 shorts. I think the chamois is similar in the two. I just rode a century in the shorts and they were perfect the whole way along with being able to ride a recovery ride two days later without any discomfort.

PI Sugar Knickers. Scooped comfier low-rise in front, the chamois is decent if a big fluffy and overpadded. Most importantly, the length is perfect for my legs which are a ~30" inseam with relatively long thighbones and shorter lower legs. The Sugar knicker comes to about 1" below my knees, while many other knickers extend further down to the widest part of my calves and the terminal elastic band cuts uncomfortably into my bulgy calves.

I like these too! Im short and they are a good length. Love the matte fabric as opposed to the usual shiny lycra. And there is the split at the bottom, no rubber grippy things which IMHO aren't needed on knicks.

I have 2 pair which I like..the Terry knickers (not the spin-nickers) and the PI Sugar Knickers. The Terry seems to have just a little bit thicker spandex or maybe it's tighter woven..so I tend to wear them more than the PI's. My friend wears the Terry spin-nickers and she said she likes them however the padding isn't conducive to long miles..she's done 50 mile rides or so in them and didn't have a problem. But they are more for spinning class than riding, per the advertisement but she tried them on and she liked them.

Thanks for all the imput. I've been looking at several brands and I knew sugar knickers would be well liked. I want to spend under $50 and not have a chamois like a diaper either, but not too thin. The chamois in my regular shorts is fine, but my baggies the chamois is too big, aggravating. I may end up with knee warmers first. we'll see. But I also looked at perfomance and nashbar house brands, on sale for around $30- haven't decided yet. I'll keep looking. Thanks all. Jenn ;) :)

The PI Sugar Knickers are on sale for about $41 at REI right now. (I have these, and like them quit a bit.)

My hands-down favorite is the Bouré knicker, which has articulated hips and knees and does not have leg grippers. It's very comfortable and does not have a bulky chamois.

I tried on knee warmers at lbs today when I p/u my bike(new stem) and the small were too big :rolleyes: I tried on nike leg warmers(i know wrong direction-I already own tights too) but They fit and had zippers on bottom so I went ahead and got them. I get paid in a few days so I'll check out the prices-sale and otherwise again this weekend. I can take the warmers off when i get hot. 50's low, upper 70's high sat for club ride. We have some of our "Share the Road" signs up that we used for a century fundraiser in July(atl Laura came) so we're calling our club ride sat the Tour de Signs. Jenn :p :)
