So gang - maybe I should have seen a doctor...

I had a cold last week, but feel fine for the most part except for the periodic coughing gunk up from my chest. Am an asthmatic (EIA), but because my peak flows are down a bit, I've increased my daily does of meds. What I'm coughing up doesn't look to be infected (white to pale yellow, not green. OK, TMI, sorry), so I haven't called my doc. The MS Tour is tomorrow. Any suggesting on coping? Anything I should stuff in my pocket to deal with the periodic coughing fits?

You probably won't cough that much cause the exercise should open up your bronchials as long as you don't push too hard. As you know, pushing too hard with asthma and a little down on lung power can bring on an attack.

Try Ludens or some other cough drop. They can help. Don't know if they keep you from coughing but they make your throat feel better.

I woke up the Thursday before our local MS ride with the head cold from #$&%. Sore throat, coughing, etc. I felt terrible on Saturday AM - got on the bike anyway. Had zero problems. I did have some residual problems on Monday and Tuesday of the following week that I might not have had if I hadn't ridden. But, there was no way I was going to not ride. Probably helped that I wimped out of riding in the tropical storm on Sunday:cool:

Good luck!!

Just be careful!!! Intense exercise depresses your immune system, and in my younger stupid days I wound up with a debilitating sinus infection that lasted 11 weeks because I refused to take a break from training. I guess you're done with the tour now (hope it went great!) so be sure to get some good rest and hydration.

Did some hacking enroute, but now early monday morning (sometimes I hate my body alarm) I feel fine, no pain in my chest/bronchial area. A little conjested, but that's normal. My peak flows are back up to where they're supposed to be. Now if someone could fix my poor conjested cat....

Pick the cat up by the back legs and swing it around. The centrifugal force will force out the congestion.
I hope you know I'm not serious.

Did you make your fund-raising goal?
I did what I could...

I'll get a couple more checks this week, so I might still make my goal. Thank you for your support. I realize that there's a whole bunch of charity events and it's tough to donate to all of them. Am starting to think I need to pick one a month for my own donations (or something like that). You know, sprinkle $10-15 dollars around once a month.

The cat - she's on antibiotics, again; and antihistimines that has the pleasant side effect of triggering her appetite. She's down to 5.6 pounds (should be around 8). I have put her bowl on an overturned coffee mug, so that she doesn't have to lower her head so much to eat. Figure it might help, I know tieing my shoes when I have a head cold is a real pain.

Give you cat something really, really smelly to eat - seriously, cats appetites are mostly stimulated through their noses so when they are stuffed up and can't smell they tend to not be hungry. So the fishiest nastiest canned catfood you can find might get her interested again.
