Hi Ladies. Please indulge me while I sing my own praises:
I just logged my miles on Bikejournal for the weekend and realized with some excitement that I hit a new personal record for the month: 834 miles in September. I'm a bit suprised because I didn't ride much the first two weeks of the month. From September 16th to the 30th, however, I logged 604 miles and 390 of those were in Tennessee and included a fair amount climbing (for a flatlander)!
I'm even more excited by my year-to-date figures. I've ridden 4356 miles in 105 rides this year! And most of those weren't what I would call "easy." They included a hilly century (my first) in Kentucky, countless "training" rides, the Ride Across Indiana (160 miles in one day), and the Bicycle Ride Across Tennesse, plus lots of club rides trying to keep up with the "boys." Now I'm taking it a little easier--at least in the speed department--for the rest of the year. It's time for me to wind down.
Not too shabby for my first full year of riding! My original goal for the year was 4000 miles. Now I've increased it to 5200. Depending on the weather, I think I could come in closer to 5400. It's been a fantastic year on my bike. I've made so many friends along the way, seen some lovely places and learned a thing or two about myself. I had no idea when I bought my road bike last July that I'd come this far, this fast. At 38, I'm in the best shape of my life and feel so, so good.
Thanks for letting me share!
Kate
