I took my bike to a local shop that once sold recumbents to take advantage of the help they offered me last week. The owner of the shop offered to help me correctly identify the various components on my bike and determine how they compared to those that come on a factor made model (my bike was custom built).
My Bacchetta Giro 20 has a few of the same components that come on a factory made model but also has several upgrades (Chris King Headset, custom built wheels on Velocity rims, ect.) In fact most of what is on my bike would be considered an upgrade according to the shop's owner. He advised me to depreciate the value of the bike somewhere between 30 to 40%, does this seem extreme? I got the bike last year and it has about 1300 miles on it - broken in but nothing extreme. Should I depreciate this bike this much? A new Giro 20 retails for $1550 in this area and based on his calculations he has advised me to list this bike for $1000 - 1100. In your opinions is this too low?
Second, I'm not sure if I have a 2006 or 2007 frame. The short version of this story is I allowed exBF to purchase the frame in repayment for some money he owed me but I never was able to get a receipt out of him. How do I determine what year frame I have? The frame arrived in late June of 2006 if that is of any help. Is it possible to contact the company with the serial number and have them look back in their records for this information?
Thanks again for all your help in my past posts for working on selling this bike. I look forward to your help with these questions as well.
Thanks!
