It's a weight thing, apparently. Saves about half of the weight of the rim tape (wow).

they came with my Peter White wheels - so easy to install!!! and fun. a bit like popping the bubble wrap that wraps fragiles.
now that they're in - I really don't see a difference, but I don't think you really would.
I expect they'll be more durable than rim tape.

I'm thinking about using them in my American Classics which I hope will be here next week.

Yeah, I was thinking for weight. I want my new wheels to be as light as possible.

I'm building a new wheelset myself and I am definately going to use Veloplugs for weight and ease. I think SadieKate has them and she likes them.

I have Veloplugs. I like that I don't need to worry about them shifting out of place like my rim tape did. Also, supposed to make changing tires easier since there's more room inside the rim without the tape. Can't say that I notice the weight savings, but less spinning mass out at the rims is supposed to be a good thing.
The plugs didn't fit the stock wheels that came with my bike (the spoke holes were too big) but they fit great in the Cane Creeks I switched to.
