Hee hee! It all happens so darn gracefully! Amazing control, even as they're out of control.

Remind me not to start racing cyclocross!

Looks fun to me, although I would prefer not to have that many people around me...Gosh seeing that gets me inspired to try it:p

Watching that reminds me of why I love to watch 'cross, but don't want to try it

Speaking of which, the first race of the MABRA series is a week from today: Charm City Cross (http://www.charmcitycycling.com/), Sunday 9/23 at Druid Hill Park in B'more. Can't wait!

LOL, I have never watched 'cross before! Yes, let's grease a huge hill with slick clay mud, let the rain hit it like a cow peeing on a flat rock, and send a bunch of cyclists down to the bottom for a hairpin turn! LOL...I think these are the kinds of conditions I try to avoid... :p

no, no, no, I think cross is the thing for you, Wahine.
That was extreme cross.
Check out the link Kalidurga posted, it has some video. quite tame in comparison.

How 'bout some extreme speed?

Anybody wanna go 77mph on a bike?

Bear in mind that the race in the video took place in September and dry weather. I'm looking forward to checking out some races in November and December. I'd love to watch people ride in snow ;)

That video looks a lot like the type of CX we have in Wisconsin. Except it's under 40 degrees here and you end up freezing your arse off.

I don't know Zen. You scare me with some of this stuff and the link that Kalidurga posted was only a phot and not a video (note that I am technoligically challenged) as far as I could figure out. I don't know what that guy looked like after a few laps.

Yeah, that's pretty much 'cross in a nutshell - uniquely Euro-flavoured madness. :D

Yes, Slo-Mo-Jo, I got a 'cross bike. I bought it cause it's designed for the multiple surfaces of a 'cross course (allowing me to take it from the C&O towpath to the road to mild singletrack, etc), but I've never had any intention of racing on it. What can I say, I value my shins too much to subject them to banging into barriers (i.e. I'm a weenie) But I do love to watch other people do it! ;)

Wahine, if you go to the link I posted and click on Events, there's a link on that page to Charm City Cross on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXVLtg8wYBk) (or you can just click it here). It does make 'cross look tame in comparison to Zen's video, though a couple of people do mention trying not to hurl. The Charm City race is the kick-off to the season in the mid-Atlantic region, but the time of year and course design tend to make it less chaotic. So, between the Charm City video and Zen's link, you can see the two extremes of 'cross. I'd guess that the experiences of our TE 'cross racers fall everywhere in between.
