View Full Version : How evil am I?

SKnot's bike (which was to be my bike until he fell in love with it) has Kona Jacksh*t pedals. He's ridden it maybe 4 times in the last 5 months.

I want-crave-deeply-desire a set of Jacksh*ts for my Surly Cross Check. (which I bought when the Kona Smoke I'd bought became his bike.)

Would I be an evil mom if I switched his Jacksh*ts for the piece-o-sh*ts my Surly CC came with?

I mean, he doesn't ride "his" Kona Smoke much. And I yearn for the Jacksh*ts I blissfully experienced before he saw the Smoke and claimed it.

I have a pedal wrench right here...

(and $30 Jacksh*ts are backordered at the moment)

Me and Phil Wood, yeah, we're like *this*.

I did the evil deed.

The Jacksh*ts are on my Surly, and the no-name bear traps are on the Kona Smoke.

I swear, if SKnot wants the Jacksh*ts back, I'll switch 'em again.

Phil Wood green grease and Inline pedal wrench helped me do it. (if there's a problem, blame them...) ;)

aaaahahaha... I've swiped my son's cyclocomputer AND his bicycle lock (from his locked bike) multiple times now... bad, bad mother.

I got my own computer now, but dang, that lock sure comes in handy when I need to go down for groceries.

My dh tried something similar. After he bought a new bike I offered to buy his old one, that I'd been using for trail riding in the woods ever since he put a short stem on it. He was kind enough to just give it to me. But several weeks later! he obviously felt he could just come and claim the saddle (ok, honey, your favourite saddle) but ALSO the short stem which was the reason it now fit me at all.

He couldn't understand why I got all huffy and puffy and indignated...

I can't imagine why you love these so. The reviews are terrible.

I think you did the right thing Knot. heck, you could even tell him that you gave him NEW pedals.

wow! from the reviews it sounds like sknot got the better deal! :p
Hope you have better luck than the reviewers did... But heck, I know nothing of the pedals in question, so I suppose I shouldn't comment.
ALSO, it needs to be noted that as a whole, those who LIKE a product are less likely to post a review, but those who DIS- LIKE a product- they want to tell the world! ;)

He wants his pedals back... snif.

I'm not jumping things with these pedals (unlike the reviewers who broke theirs) Do they really expect to jump off a loading dock and *not* bust something?

I'm just commuting on them. Ooooh, such nice big flat pedals...

(If I *were* going to jump off loading docks or launch myself into the air at "only" 15 mph, I'd get Speedplay Drillium pedals: http://www.speedplay.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.drillium )

Edit: hey, I could buy the Drilliums, and give SKnot back the Kona Jacksh*ts...

The drilliums say:
# Replaceable pins - 20 of 'em on each pedal
# Cooling holes to dissipate heat during re-entry

"Replacable" pins?- are they expecting them to come off?
Re-entry? How hot do they think our shoes are going to get?

;)

Maybe you could try these MKS Sneaker Pedals (http://www.rivbike.com/products/list/pedals_and_so_on#product=14-047). They look pretty similar. (I'm putting them on my grocery store bike, but haven't gotten around to it yet.)

Oooh, both the sneaker pedals and the Grip King pedals are pretty darn spiffy!

I really do like the big flat pedals for the utility bike. They are so comfortable!

No more mommy-guilt!

Kona Jacksh*ts available at my LBS again. So I got a pair for my commuter, and put SKnot's back on his bike.

Get this, my kiddo who refused to ride a bike for something like 8 years has put himself on the waiting list to get into his high school's bike club!

That's cool. And his Mom can coach. :D Road, mountain or both?
