Not sure whether to post this under "health" or "nutrition."

So, doh.... Three miles from the end of last night's ride, it's getting dark, and our group turns onto a little bike path that I'm not familiar with. Turns out that there's a pretty sharp turn just after the entry, and there's gravel all over it that I couldn't see. Upshot is, bike and self are pretty much all right, I'm a little bit rashed but mainly have a BIG contusion on my hip and thigh. I'm sitting on an icepack as I type :(

Extra Vitamin C for cell wall repair I know, extra fluids and eat real clean for a few days (like I shouldn't anyway, ha ha). But what about protein? Obviously no corn-fed animal products, but will grass-fed animal products or wild-caught fish increase the inflammation, or should I have a little cheese, eggs or even m**t to help with tissue repair? What will phytoestrogens like soy do? Anything else I'm missing?

TIA for any advice.

I would just continue eating normal.
I do adive getting calandula gel though to put on the road rash, and arnica for the contusion/brusing. You can get arnica in tablet form, which is better then the gel, b/c you can not put the gel on open skin-it will burn!!! Both of these products are homeopathic, and work amazingly!! Also the 2nd skin bandages work 100x better then vitamin e for healing.

Like ehirsch83 said,
and, if possible, massage the contusion to stimulate circulation. Seems counter intuitive, but it helps heal it faster, and can help prevent spider veins.

I'm an idiot. I have some calendula salve around the house already and totally forgot to use it. The rash is very superficial and not large, but may as well take care of it.

I've been using Traumeel gel on the contusion (arnica and some other stuff). I had that already, and it's 25 miles in the wrong direction to the nearest place I can get some of the internal stuff. Not much rash where it's contused, since it was all under my shorts. It stung a little the first night, no problem after that. Rubbing it in gives it a little massage.

I forgot to make a nice comfrey root poultice, too. It's a wonder I can remember how to ride a bicycle... obviously I forgot the part about not crashing

Did a nice easy 32 this morning, that really helped break up the swelling. Like you said, increase the circulation.

And my bike got a bath, which it desperately needed, since I had to inspect it for damage.

Thanks all!
