I just noticed a sad yet inspiring story on the bbc tonight

I'm nots rue if anyone remembers Jane Tomlinson but she cycled around the US, did an Ironman and ran the London Marathon all after being diagnosed with metastatic incurable breast cancer.

I guess my reason for posting this is that even if you think you can't..you can..

Thanks for sharing that. I was sad to read that the US media practically ignored her when she was here. :(

Yeah tucker- I was thinking the same thing.... Seems to me that SHE should be honored by Sport Illustrated as Sports(wo)man of the year! Not some over paid egotistical pro athlete. SHE embodies a true athlete. What a story. A sad loss indeed.

Crazycanuck, so pleased you started a thread in memory of Jane Tomlinson.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What sad news to come home from work to.
Just cycled home, really pleased with myself, climbed this horrible hill in record time (for me), felt I had achieved something.................until I read about Jane Tomlinson.
I remember watching her on TV and the challenges she set herself were amazing, especially knowing she had terminal cancer.
So far as I know, she raised almost 2 million pounds, for various charities.
I wish I had an ounce of her courage.
A very sad day, my thoughts for her family and many friends.
RIP Jane.
