I'm so bummed. I'm laying around my living room in a bathing suit. (Thank god I bought an air conditioner yesterday as it was 115 degrees!!) It's so hot outside I can barely breathe, let alone ride. I had hoped to ride last night but it never really cooled down enough before the heat won and I fell asleep. It's so hot and I want to ride my bike!!!

This is payback for calling my family in upstate NY last winter and bragging about the sunshine in southern CA. Sigh...

I hear ya. We had 32 days over 110 this summer (so far). I get up to ride at the crack of dawn when it's only 90 degrees or I can't get out at all.

When we were having the terrible heat a couple of weeks ago, the only time it was really tolerable to ride was at sunrise, which I really enjoyed.

yup... it was 105 in San Diego yesterday for the 8th day running... we couldn't get going until 8AM so we only got 20 miles in... it was just too miserable to do any more...

the weird thing is the HORRID humidity we're having... I'm just not used to it...

then I had a date in the afternoon... showered, dried my hair and couldn't stop sweating enough to get my makeup on. yeesh.

I hope non of you ladies ever have to relocate to south florida! I only wish that the 105 heat index was for a short time. That is our summer weather!(so may to end of sept.)

Yeah, I'm not moving to Florida! And I felt a little silly posting that after I read some other posts about long rides in high heat. But this was the first long weekend I have had off in a long time. Between my private practice on Saturdays and working at the hospital during the week, I work 50 hours or more a week and I couldn't bring myself to think about getting up early and riding... but now that it is 1:30pm and I didn't get up and ride, I'm bummed I didn't do it.

I feel your pain amy. Im out in Pasadena....yesterday was 106 all day. I went for a ride Saturday and it was 80 degrees out by 7am!!

I wanted to ride today but didn't get up in time and Im very sad :( Im thinking if it cools off below 90 this evening I'll head out for a short ride.

To make matters even worse I went swimming at the beach yesterday and have a rash all over my arms and legs. So Im hot and itchy. FUN!

Amy-
I little hint, if you don't make it out first thing in the morning, and you have the day off, wait until around 5:30. Down here the sun is still setting around 7:45, so I can go out and get a good 2 hours in, and it starts to cool off around 6:30. Or if you want a shorter ride, go out later. As long as you are home by dusk(not safe to ride on the roads after that, imho) you should be good:-)

I never ride mid day, but I do ride early evening a lot because of my work/school schedule.

Yeah, I actually do most of my riding early evening. It just seems so horribly hot and humid (humidity is not something we are used to here) even at my usual evening time. Maybe I'm just lazy. haha... Actually, I'm just not used to having so much free time during the day and all I can think about is riding.

It's been just horrible. Even around 7 p.m., it's still too hot to ride!

I think it's supposed to break tomorrow -- I hope, I hope, I HOPE!

As much as I am tired of the heat, I really hate the waning daylight. We are surrounded by mountians so the sun is not up until almost 6:00 and it is setting at about 6:45. I can't help but feel that winter is just around the corner.

Boo hoo............just come back from a few days away in Devon (UK) and I think it actually reached 65 degrees, or maybe went as high as 68!

YAY.................but at least we were able to go on our bikes, 26 miles and didn't even break out in a sweat.

Would like it a little bit warmer here in the UK, just feels like autumn is so near, sorry, I mean fall.
