I am taking a trip to the Whistler area and was wondering if anyone had some great ideas for mt. bike rides and climbs (top rope beginer) in the area?

Be ready for a great time! Whistler Mountain has a mountain bike park that is really wild -- novice to expert trails.. gondola up and be ready for the desent!! You can go it on your own, or take a tour. (BTW: the hiking is outstanding) In Whistler stop by the Glacier Shop or Wild Willies for more Mnt Bike trail info. On the way up the highway you will pass a town called Squamish -- Take some time to ride here to. The local bike shops (Tantalus or Corsa) have lots of info and trail maps as does the Chamber right downtown. Make sure to check out the Howe Sound Inn and Brewing company -- FAB! If you are a rock climber some of the worlds best climbs are in Squamish. BTW: the local radio station is at 107.1 Squamish or 102.1 Whistler and is called Mountain FM.
Have fun!

Another way to discover all the amazing mountain biking around Whistler:
On Monday nights, one of the local shops, Willies, has a Come Ride With Us ride. Open to everyone (I believe a drop in fee is $10). Rides start at 6:30, sign in as at 6:00. (meet at the back of the shop at Nesters - just ask any local where Willies in Nesters is and they can point the way - it's about 3 kilometres north of the main Village)
There are usually 4 groups (beginner, intermediate (slow and fast) as well as advanced. All groups are led by fantastic guides.
It's a great way to see the trails around town.
And then everyone goes out for beer afterwards.
Enjoy your time here!
