OK, my husband and I were sitting on a bench, drinking coffee outside the Main St. Cafe in Concord Center. It was about 4 PM, a very busy intersection, but today was not extremely crowded. A guy on a bike (roadie, not a commuter, I think) made a left turn onto Main St from Walden St. Along the side of Main St, there are parking spaces and a cross walk not far from the turning point. Just as he was straightening out his wheel, some a&*hole decides to pull into one of the parking spaces, without signaling. The car (a Volvo station wagon) hit his front wheel, but amazingly, he stayed upright and screamed at the girl. And then he just rode away. He WAS going faster than I would be in this busy area, but, it was definitely the car's fault. Obviously, it shook us up more than the rider, since he just rode away! Several others witnessed this and asked us whose fault we thought it was; from a slightly different vantage point, you couldn't see that the car didn't signal. The driver slinked into the bank and had the nerve to check her car for damage! I had to restrain my husband from confronting the driver.
We didn't call the police, since the rider obviously didn't care, but I am glad that I usually avoid making this turn by taking some different streets.
