yes, steel can be light, don't know what mine weighs but read that only 1/5th of any bike is the frame. You could have OCLV, Ti whatever but heavy stuff hung on it and my bike could be lighter.

But then I don't get to be a weight weinie till I can't take 30 lbs. off ME. ;)

Noticed the quote "She's light, and wanted a beautiful, lugged, race-light bike, and after determining beyond a shadow of a doubt that she has no plans to add 50lbs to her 120 lb frame and take up stunt riding, we .... built the bike."

when I LOOSE the 40 lbs. I want a bike like that ;-)
:p ;)

I have silly habit anthropomorphizing inanimate objects...I always refer to my bike as my pretty girl...

We interupt this oggling of shiny bike parts for a Public Service message...

Look, but don't touch.

Be warned, the guy who runs this place is notorious for charging people's credit cards and not delivering the goods.

From time to time a couple of email lists I follow (the Rivendell list and the Bridgestone Owners Bunch list) has a new bunch of postings from people who discover they weren't the only ones to be ripped off by this guy.

It's a shame, because he carries a lot of neat stuff - I've been to his store (excuuuse me, his Atelier  ) and my husband purchased his Riv Atlantis from this guy - and then had to re-do the cabling and various other poorly assembled bits, but that was OK by my husband, he likes to tinker. But, based on others' experiences I consider ourselves fortunate we were not swindled. We dealt with him directly and not via mail order. Still, he started flaking out on us near the end too, but we still feel we got a good deal on the bike so no particularly hard feelings on our end.

Nevertheless, based on others' bad experiences I cannot recommend doing any kind of business with Momovelo.

- Jo, end of Public Service Message :p

Thanks for the heads up!!

That's a shame about Momovelo! They make some beautiful bikes! They were even highlighted in Budget Living Magazine for their assortment of Japanese bikes...

Oh well, I'm too cheap to buy retail anyway...I just use the site as eye candy...

I like the green dragon costume, wonder how he keeps the tail out of the spokes?

V. and I got to feast our eyes on the fuschia Riv today - it's owner, Amy, participated in the Riv ride up Mt. Diablo.

That bike is simply stunning in person. V. got to lift it up - word is, yep, it's light! :D

Talking in the car on the way home I came to the conclusion that it's only a few pounds lighter than Fluffy - when I'm not carrying all that stuff I carry. :p

I don't know that I would even notice it. Factoring in rider weight it's only about 2% lighter. :p For someone on the smaller side it would make a bigger difference. I think I'll only be that small when I'm dead.

That's true, she wasn't carting much stuff around, was she? Gee, maybe that's the secret, d'oh!!!

Oh, and for you pink bike fanciers, we had 3 pink Rivs in attendance on the Riv ride today - the fuschia pink, dusty rose pink (mine), and a baby pink riv ridden by a man :)
