This past week we went to ride the Trail of the Coeur D'Alene's and the Hiawatha Trail.

It was awesome!! Here are a few pictures to whet your appetite...

I just looked at both sites. How cool!!! Looks like something I'd like to try one day! 70 miles of that paved trail? How incredible was that? I'd go there for that alone (is it 35 miles out and then 35 back?).

The mtn bike trail looked really neat, too! I was mesmerized by your pictures. So gorgeous, so scenic, so breathtaking.
Thanks for sharing!!!!

It's now officially on "the list" of things to do in Idaho!!! :D

Ellen, the trails are beyond awesome. It is what cycling should be, to get out and have fun and see some of the gorgeous beauty that is out there.

I am soooooooooooooooo envious. That is one spectacular vacation.

You really put together nice blogs on the two trails. I love the photos and the descriptions.

Acutally, it's 72 miles out and back! I only did 65 the first day, then around 50 the second due to my wheel.

Glad you enjoyed the photos!

You'll have to bring your bike next time. After your Hurricane Ridge write up awhile ago, this is a piece of cake!

You would love it, Darcy. Nothing but trail! No cars...and hardly any other cyclists. But then again, we were there mid-week.

You're welcome! We're already planning to go again. Maybe just a family trip. There's so much more to do, too!

You we're in my neck of the woods. NEXT TIME, let me know ahead of time please!!! :D I LOVE to ride and hobnob with fellow TE'er. The CDA trail is indeed a treat and so is the Hiawatha is a blast. Spokane's Centennial Trail isn't bad either. bikerHen

Looks like a fun trip. DH and I want to do some exploring out your way sometime, so that may be a good trip for us to do when we come out your way. There is just so much to do..:p

So, this trail is 72 miles out, and 72 miles back? Is there enough service along the way that a person could attempt to do it both ways in one day for a 144 mile, one-day ride? Is it pretty flat?

Gorgeous pics by the way. Makes me really homesick for the Inland Empire.

Yep...27 miles each way. Very flat. Here's a link to the elevation. There's no more than a 2% grade at each end.

I think it's very do-able in one day. Glad you liked the pics!

I didn't think to post about it before we left. It would have been great to meet you! Next time I'll let everyone know. I think we're planning to go as a family next year some time. :)

A lot of folks here start at Plummer, ID which is the lower end of the trail and ride to Kellogg, Wallace or Sliver Mountain, spend the night and ride back the next day. The really hardcore riders, leave from Spokane and ride down to Plummer. It makes a great weekend ride. bikerHen

Yep...exactly what we did. Started in Plummer and rode to Wallace and stayed the night. The end of the trail is only 7 miles from Wallace.

So the Centennial Trail goes from Spokeane to Plummer?
