I don't know about the rest of you, but today I was certainly glad that I get off work at 4.30 am, because I just BARELY got home before the rain started pouring down :p .

Only 9 some miles, but better than none at all!

East Hill - you got out of work at 4:30 AM? What shift do you work.

Anyways, I'm in Michigan and its been raining here since Sunday, off and on - more on than off.

I work what's laughingly (and laughably) called 'Graveyard'. It's the earliest possible start and end time for that shift, and no, I didn't choose those hours, my work schedule was changed from 2300-0730 to 2005-0435.

I LOVED 11.00 pm to 7.30 am.

Hey everyone I think the sun is going to finally make an appearance today. It's currently 7:05 AM as I write this post. It's very grey outside but I was just watching King 5 news and they said clearing! Sun sun sun by this afternoon and tomorrow . . . GORGEOUS! My fingers and toes are crossed hoping this is true. Because I NEED TO RIDE! :D I haven't been on my bike since Saturday's mountain bike ride with hubby. It was a blast! My daughter took tomorrow off because of the nice weather forecast to do a road ride with me. So it better be beautiful! :) Sue

nice, Susan. I've been commuting (not monday) and so far i have stayed dry.

I've stayed reasonably dry only because I've beaten the rain by getting home before it starts  ,

Otherwise I would look like a river rat.

Still, I like rain, it's in my blood :p .

there are certainly worse things than our rain..

Yes, our solid, gray, continual cloud cover. :p

no, there are MUCH worse things than our grey skies.
How about 100 degrees every day for weeks? ugh.
I'll take this weather ANY time. you can go riding in grey
but can you go riding in Thunderstorm weather? or tornado weather?
or 30mph prevailing winds
or 100 deg and 80% humidity??

Or our weeks of gloom and rain in November not to mention wind storms that knock out power for days . . . weeks! Fallen trees, debris . . . let's hope this winter will be a nice one. I think we deserve a nice winter after our wet summer! Add nice fall to that too!

It's pretty humid right now but no precip! And the sun is trying! I may have to go for a ride this afternoon. You gals that ride in the rain are hard core bad a#%es! I'm a big gutless chicken when the pavement is wet. But I can blame this fear on a bad accident 5 years ago while riding in the rain. I've never gotten over that crash.

I'll never forget the year when hubby and I did the TOSRV-West (double century from Missoula, Montana to Big Fish, Montana and back) in 2003. The last 30 miles of day one it started to rain and I was a nervous wreck. If it weren't for my hubby I would have been crying on the side of the road waiting for the rain to stop and the roads to dry. But he stayed right by my side with encouraging words.

I'm willing to admit there is worse. I also have lived where it was far better!

Well, this is the thing. There are a handful of days each year when it is SO great here that nowhere could possibly be better. But, if a person likes sunshine (actual sunshine, the kind that throws shadows and all), and likes hot, dry weather in the summer (85-100 degrees) and cold dry weather in the winter, including SNOW (10-25 degrees)...well, a lot of inland areas fill the bill.

I do love it here in many ways. However, I do really miss actual HOT weather in the summer, and actual cold SNOW all winter. And, I miss low humidity like you get inland, and in the Rockies, and the desert.

Like Winthrop Starfish. I love it there! Have you ever been? It's beautiful with hot summers, cold winters, and practically zero humidity.

And falls! To die for!

Bend, Oregon is another favorite place of mine. Oh and there's Missoula, Montana too.

OK, come on you guys. Spokane's not a bad place for riding either. Yes we do get cold and snow but over all the weather is pretty darn good for riding.
Summers are great, little/no rain, low humidty.
Fall is the very best, cool and sunny.
Winter is a challenge but doable if you're a little nuts.
Spring means layers, and a new adventure every morning.

You all are just going to have to plan more trips to the dry side. :D bikerHen

It is nice today. I'll be going for a walk in a bit so I'll get to enjoy the sun :)

I am a wuss, a Southern California wuss at that. I am ok with waking up at sunrise to ride so it's cool enough. I like being able to go for walks at night and wear shorts. I like the consistency. That all being said, I don't like the brown (SoCal is SO brown) and I don't like heat. I like the idea of snow but lived far too long where I had to shovel it...that and I do NOT do chains well.

I would be perfect in San Diego or Santa Barbara in California. I like the idea of rain but am not used to riding in it yet.

Today though? Is beautiful!!!

You're right BikerHen, Spokane is also great for riding. I may have to bring my bike over there when I visit my son at college. He goes to EWU in Cheney. In fact we will be driving over there in September to help him move back into his dorm. I always want to bring my bike when we go to visit him but never do. I spend most of my time just visiting him. But I see cyclist, especially around Cheney, all the time.

I also would like to do more cycling in Spokane. A few years ago I did the Ride Around Washington from Newport down to Walla Walla, and Spokane was our first stop.

Well bring your bike in September. Fall really is a great time to ride. I just did a fun organized ride around the Cheney/West Plains area. Would love to do it again. Just let me know when. :D bikerHen
