Just to report back to all who provided input when I was planning this trip. It was an AMAZING experience. My home adapted front pack(small camera bag I added velcro) worked fine as did a rear pack mounted from the seat post. We changed seatpost to alum from the carbon to be safe?

There were 140 people from 12 yr to 80 and my 59.5 was probably smack in the middle. Weather was great, some early morning fog(along the coast, so beautiful). One late afternoon and night of rain and wind w lots of wind leftover for the next day's ride. Of course that was the hilliest day and it was a headwind from NW ~20 w higher gusts. But we all made it one way or another. Had one flat the first day and changed it out in 15 min w/o help! Caught a little flack from others from my bike club on the ride(guys & gals) who(guys) offered to change it for me. I said ..."just finish and enjoy your ride, I'll be fine". My thinking I was riding alone at that time so why should they change their pace to fix a flat I could do anyway. I'm still learning social skillls,I guess.

430 miles w just over 30 hours riding time.... 17400 elev gain. steepest climb 15%

Anyone ever do a supported ride across US? I want to do that next year!!

Wow, sounds like a wonderful trip! I love Nova Scotia. What area did you ride, and when can we expect pictures?

Sounds like a great trip. I've thought about doing Nova Scotia by bike myself. Keep saving my pennies!

I have a friend who did a supported x-country trip this summer. It took about 8 weeks, and she had a fantastic time. I can get you more information if you'd like. Here's a link to her blog.

Han-grrl and Indysteel: I scoured these links. Now I am even more determined to do something like this while I still can. The 8 week trip looks like the CrossRoads one I am interested in. Also like the idea of Womantours but the timing of the crosscountry and the underground railroad one conflict with a trip already scheduled for BF and moi. Thanks for the links!!!
