I am new to riding. I have been in the gym during cardio on a treadmill and lifecycle for 3months. I rented a bike for the outdoors and really enjoyed the adventure. I am hot to purchase a bike. I have test road a few models, mostly hybrids. I made the mistake of test riding the Sirrus from Specialized I think it was the Sport model. Well I was impressed with the ride. I thought that I needed the fat tires. I loved the rapid fire shifter, all of the hybrids I tested had the shifters incorporated in the handgrips. This was much smoother. The bike did not have the suspension that the Giant Sedona DS had but was much more comfortable. We have a nice bike trail in our community that is paved . There are also miles and miles of country roads. I am interested in joining a riding club. They generaly do a 50 mile ride every weekend. My dream is to do a bike tour of Italy. Any suggestions: should I go hybrid or road? My price limit is 1500.00 including accessories. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
