Does anyone have a favorite pair of road cycling shoes that remain comfortable on longer distance rides? My Diadora ladies shoes start to really hurt my big toes after 40 - 50 miles. I've switched pedals and used my mountain bike shoes but I don't get the same level of performance. Thanks.

I have a pair of specialized pro comp road shoes that are very comfortable over long rides. The specialized are a new purchase and are fit for a woman's last.
Also, have you tried loosening how tight you tie them? I found this helpful in the past with my old shoes.

Cycling shoes are so funky- I usually prefer mens shoes, the women specific stuff is too pointy and narrow. Even the "unisex" stuff can be too pointy and narrow. I have Lakes, which are awesome. The toe box is squared and deep and totally different than other shoes I've had. my Diadora MT shoes are great but the road shoes were too weird. I have pretty normal feet, too.

got them recently, worked great on a week-long tour (crossed South Carolina - 470 miles in 5 days) and in my first century ride this past Saturday in GA - 102 miles and no sore feet!!

I think the Lake MX60's are actually mountain bike shoes, since I have a mountain bike (road bike just not in the budget yet...) that I use for mountain AND road riding....

I love my Sidi's Genius 4. Both my husband and I have them and they are great. You won't find them cheep but they are worth the buck. They have a great buckle system which you can losen or tighten on the fly. You can find some genius 3 on sale some places they are last year's or even 2001 but they haven't changed much and it will save you $120 if you can find them.
